00:00Is MV Agusta's Enduro Veloce a legitimate adventure bike? We came to
00:04Sardinia, Italy to find out if this bike is just taking advantage of the
00:08adventure motorcycle craze or if this is actually a legit ADV bike in this class.
00:13What we found out is that the Enduro Veloce is a legitimate adventure bike
00:17but maybe not for the most obvious reasons. But let's dig into it and tell
00:21you why. First let's talk about the engine. This is a 931cc inline 3 which is
00:27a different displacement and has different bore and stroke dimensions
00:30than anything else that MV makes. So it's a totally unique engine to this bike but
00:34it's also completely brand new and so it's got some really nice attributes. We
00:40went out today and we rode about 150 miles of street and off-road and the one
00:45thing that definitely stands out is the engine. The claimed output is 124
00:50horsepower and 75 pound-feet of peak torque. Kind of puts it out of the
00:55middleweight class and puts it closer to the open class bikes. So this bike
00:58kind of falls somewhere in between there but the engine absolutely rips. Opening
01:03the throttle, the sound from the engine is incredible. It just makes this awesome
01:07three-cylinder sound that's really nice to listen to. But the performance from
01:11the engine is very very good. This bike has an all-new electronics package. It's
01:15got all the rider aids. It's got a six-axis IMU so it's got lean enabled TC
01:21and ABS but it's got all the typical stuff. You can control your engine brake,
01:25you control your wheelie control, it's got all those sort of parameters that
01:30all the modern bikes have. But one thing that was really pleasantly surprising
01:34was that the navigation of the menus was very very easy. First of all the the
01:39screen is beautiful but getting in and making changes is much more simple than
01:44than I anticipated it would be. And one of the other nice things is you can do
01:48so much of the the adjustments on the fly. You can really go in and you can
01:53change your TC on the fly, you can go in and change your ABS modes, you can switch
01:57your modes on the fly. It's got a lot of different options for that. So this has
02:01four different ride modes. Choosing between those modes you could set them
02:05up individually and go in there and custom set them so that you would have
02:09different parameters set. Overall I'd say that the electronics package is is
02:13really quite good. The screen is really nice, the navigation is very simple so
02:18we were very pleasantly surprised with that. Now let's talk about the chassis. So
02:21the chassis is a steel frame, it's about a 63.4 inch wheelbase, it's got an
02:27adjustable seat, the high setting is 34.3 inches and then the low
02:32settings about an inch lower than that. It's got Sachs fully adjustable
02:36suspension front and rear, preload compression, rebound, 8.3 inches of travel
02:41at each end and the suspension was really nice. In an effort to make the
02:46handling a little bit more nimble, MV Agusta has a counter-rotating
02:50crankshaft on the engine. Part of that is just to make the bike feel more nimble
02:53and I think the combination between the 21 inch front tire and the
02:57counter-rotating crankshaft really makes this bike hide its weight well. The
03:01weight on this bike is about 494 pounds dry so it's a reasonably heavy adventure
03:07bike but out on the road you really don't feel that. I think that it hides
03:11its weight incredibly well, it's very very agile. The thing just hugged the
03:15road really well, it never moved around, you could trail brake in and let off the
03:20brake and it wouldn't unsettle the chassis. You could brake mid-corner and
03:24not unsettle the chassis. The bike always felt really planted and stable mid-corner
03:29and I was super impressed with that. Didn't expect that this bike with the
03:32weight that it has was going to be that good. The standard tire on the bike is a
03:37Bridgestone A41 and then we also got to ride it with some knobbies which is the
03:42AX41 Bridgestone and off-road it was actually hiding its weight really well
03:47too. They softened up the suspension a little bit to make it a little bit more
03:51subtle for the off-road section but the bike never blew through its travel. We
03:56were going down some little stary rock things and I thought that the suspension
04:00held up really well and it actually performed much better than I thought
04:04off-road. Now let's talk about the ergonomics. As you would expect they're
04:08upright and ADV comfortable. The bar position is nice. We said that it's got
04:13the adjustable seat so you can kind of fine-tune that to your liking. I think
04:18overall the riding position is really good. The wind protection from the
04:21windscreen was really good. Comes with the handguard standard. So overall the
04:25ergonomics were really nice. I think it's leaning towards the touring side but
04:29then when we did ride off-road standing up the position felt really natural. You
04:34felt like you were in a good position. So in the end I guess the question is
04:37is MV Agusta's new Enduro Veloce a legitimate adventure bike? And the answer
04:44is yes for sure it really is. I think this bike for what riding most people
04:49are gonna do this bike is really good. I think it kind of competes with the
04:53Triumph Tiger and the Africa Twin and the Multistrada is more than it would
04:57with the really hardcore adventure bikes like the KTM 890 Adventure R. But as an
05:0380-20 bike, 80% road, 20% off-road, a touring bike that you can put knobbies
05:08on, load up with bags, this bike is really good overall. I think if you're really
05:13looking for a hardcore adventure bike then this is definitely not it. But as a
05:16as a touring adventure bike it's really excellent and we had a lot of fun today.
