00:03 An investigation into the fire that claimed the lives of a mother and her son in Chesterfield have finished, with the most likely cause of the blaze now identified.
00:12 Emergency services were called to the fire at a property on Staunton Close at 2.44am on Sunday April 7th.
00:19 Tragically, a 65-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were declared dead at the scene.
00:24 They were later named as Sarita Garcia Perez and her son Sancho Garcia Bolsover.
00:29 One further occupant had escaped from the property when fire crews arrived at the scene.
00:33 A joint investigation into the cause of the blaze has determined that the fire was accidental, with the most likely cause being a naked flame igniting combustible materials.
00:43 Group manager Nathan Stephens from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said,
00:47 "Once again, I would like to extend the thoughts and sympathy of everyone at Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to the family and friends of the deceased at this distressing time."
