00:38 Aliyah is currently in Louisiana, USA where she is studying and training as a part of the Gymnastics Team of Louisiana State University.

00:57 Aliyah told us that she came from a family of gymnasts.
01:02 In fact, her sister was once a national champion.
01:06 She was only four years old when she started competing in gymnastics and became a member of the US Women's National Gymnastics Team.
01:15 But when the time came for Aliyah to compete in gymnastics for the Philippines, she did not miss the opportunity.
01:25 She was able to receive a gold medal for the Philippines after she won the Women's Vault category of Artistic Gymnastics in the 2022 Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam.
01:38 She said that she will never forget the feeling of winning a gold medal while playing the national anthem of the Philippines, Lupang Hinirang.
01:48 It's just one of those moments that you really just hold on to forever. Just being up on the podium watching the Filipino flag rise as the anthem plays.
01:57 My mom was sitting there in the audience and I got to hug her and embrace her for a few minutes.
02:03 She was crying and I was crying. We're a very emotional family.
02:07 But I just felt so honored to be able to represent that flag. I just wanted to give back in any way that I can.
02:16 She is also the first Filipino woman to enter the 2024 Paris Olympics.
02:24 We're all crying and it's so hard to explain the feeling of joy and just like satisfaction and pride and being able to finally have that "Oh, I did it" moment.
02:36 It's such a dream come true.
02:38 Alia is also excited because for the first time, all the Filipino athletes who entered the Olympics will be joining a training camp in Metz, France before the competition.
02:51 I think that's really helpful from an athlete's perspective. You have to take into things like time zone.
02:58 Maybe you're jet lagged, you have to think of the different foods that you could be eating there and just all of the adjustments that come with traveling to a foreign country that you're not necessarily used to.
03:07 Here, she will be joined by a Filipino gymnast and Olympian, Carlos Yulo, who Alia said is his idol.
03:17 I remember fangirling the first time that I ever met him because I had seen him train years before and I'm like, "He's very talented and he's very good."
03:25 According to the Philippine Olympic Committee, if the performance and records will be based on, the fight of the Filipino gymnasts in the upcoming Paris Olympics is strong.
03:36 Gymnastics, of course, is a big chance. Alia is a fighter. Practice, focus, it's a big chance.
