HARLEY, 14, describes themselves as a 'genderless monster' and dresses like one all the time. They say that they started dressing like this because it's ‘cute but scary’ with ‘loads of pastel colours’. The teen regularly goes out like this and gets lots of judgement from strangers - but their grandparents are super supportive. Today, Harley is transforming into a ‘normal 14-year-old’. Will they like the look and how will their grandparents react? 00:00 Today I'm going from a monster to a normal teenager style. I would describe my look as

00:07 cute but scary, lots of pastel colours, pinks, blues. I want to do the transformation today

00:14 because I feel like it's always nice to see yourself dressed differently, to see if you

00:20 would ever combine things with your own look. I'm excited to see the results at the end

00:29 and what my nan and grandad think. If I saw myself in the street I'd probably think I

00:35 was some sort of clown. Oh my god you look so different. I have been dressing in the

00:44 monster style for about a year now. Monster style is scary but cute, lots of pastel colours

00:53 but with a lot of eyeliner. I just felt like it was my thing and I enjoy doing it. A year

01:00 ago I decided to turn genderless because I had no connection to male or female and I

01:08 just felt like I shouldn't label myself and just be Harley. Today I'm going from a monster

01:14 to a normal teenager style. I'm feeling pretty nervous but it's always nice to see yourself

01:21 dressed differently, to see if you would ever combine things with your own look. Ugly. I'm

01:36 not really used to wearing jeans. A cap and it's brown and green. Not really the colours

01:44 I would wear. It'll be weird seeing me dressed normal. I'm excited to see the results at

01:52 the end and what my nan and grandad think. My grandparents are very supportive and my

01:57 nan thinks it's very artistic. I mostly feel judged sometimes when I'm in public and a

02:04 lot of people stare. My grandad nearly got into a fight before because this one person

02:11 walked past and said something about me. My grandad got very overprotective. A makeup

02:20 artist is coming over to transform me into a normal 14 year old. Hi. Hi, are you okay?

02:26 Yeah, you? Yes, thank you. I think Harley's amazing. The makeup, everything, I just think

02:33 it's incredible. So for Harley today we're just going to do something really soft glam,

02:40 really natural, just something to bring out the features. I'm feeling nervous. Are you

02:52 ready Harley? Yes. Okay, three, two, one. I look animated. I look like an Instagram fillet.

03:11 Oh no, that's scary. If I saw myself in the street I'd probably think I was some sort

03:20 of farmer. I wouldn't dress like this because I just look funny. It makes me feel not myself.

03:28 It makes me feel like I'm pretending to be someone else. I've never seen anybody like

03:34 Harley before and when the first I had experienced him I was like, oh my God, I was quite shocked.

03:41 But now I think it's just brilliant. Harley's Harley and well I wouldn't change Harley.

03:45 Yeah, it's just all part and parcel of them now. If they did something else it would be

03:53 really strange. Their imagination is just weird and out there but that's what it's supposed

03:58 to be. Harley's unique and we love them for it. I'm excited to reveal it to my grandparents

04:06 because they haven't seen me in full glam in for so long. I don't think they could imagine

04:12 it. Oh my God. The green suits you. Oh yeah. Oh my God, you look so different. What do

04:21 you think? No, it's not me. It's not me. When I looked in the mirror I was like, who's that?

04:27 You look like... An Instagram filler. An Instagram filler. I don't know. I do prefer the extreme

04:37 looks and things but if you wanted to dress like that, if you're happy. If you wanted

04:42 to be like that, Harl, I would support you anyway but I much prefer your wacky, scary

04:48 looks. You're just brilliant, Harl. Keep coming down and making me jump with all your scary

04:53 looks and your fantasticness. So don't change. Unless you want to, that is. But I love you

05:01 as you are.

05:01 I think my grandparents' reaction was what I was expecting because I knew they wouldn't

05:15 really like it and they would prefer my old style better but I feel like they would accept

05:21 me no matter what I do. I think Harl is going to be a face of the future, a stand up for

05:27 kids like themselves. This experience has made me feel like I definitely know that dressing

05:34 this way isn't my thing and that there is more to just fashion. There's more colours,

05:44 more just looking how you want to look.
