The founders of the Food2Soil - a startup recycling commercial food waste into biofertiliser - are crowdraising to keep growing their business during a cost of living crisis.
Transcript
00:00 So our main mission is to divert food waste from landfill and to improve Australian soils
00:09 and plant health by returning the nutrients back into soil from our food waste that we
00:14 collect and also the microbes that are grown in that and returned back to soil.
00:21 Using natural fertilisers also decreases the amount of synthetic fertilisers our growers
00:26 are having to use and this in turn means less harmful runoff into our streams, waterways
00:32 and dams.
00:33 We haven't had any financial support from the ACT government but um.
00:39 I think with the regulations coming into effect in June the government's going to have to
00:46 step up to enforce that and I'm hoping that the government will actually look at the framework
00:52 that is going to support that so they will pay more attention to businesses like ourselves
00:57 that are trying to divert food waste from landfill.
01:00 Hopefully we'll get a bit more support then.
01:03 Crowdfunding serves a dual purpose for us.
01:06 A) we're able to get some capital to make those expansions that we need to do to be
01:12 successful but it also grows our customer base and we really love the idea of having
01:20 people who love our product and are supporters of food soil being actually part of the business.
01:26 Thank you.
