00:00Matt, it does appear, at least from every report, including from authorities, that Shoei
00:09Otani was completely in the dark while all of this was going on, Ippei Matsuhara betting
00:16hundreds of millions of dollars in the end with Otani's money on credit in some cases.
00:21It does appear like on most with a legal bookmaker.
00:25And I guess the only really good news coming out of this is that the fact that there was
00:29not a single baseball bet placed, that makes me think that, okay, this is sort of like
00:35a non-baseball story and more of a fraud story.
00:38Do you agree with that?
00:40That's what it seems.
00:42This story, though, I think definitely has some more twists and turns ahead.
00:45There's still, I think, questions a lot of people have about the story, mostly just how
00:51he got access to Otani's accounts, how he was able to so freely move the money around
00:57and whatnot.
00:58So this story right now seems like it's going to die down a little, which of course, I think
01:04is what Otani, what the Dodgers want, but there's still going to be more that's going
01:08to come out.
01:09It's still going to flare up from time to time.
01:11I'm sure there's still going to be details that just create a little bit of confusion
01:16and people are going to want answers to because right now, I'm not sure how many people are
01:20completely satisfied with what we've heard, but I think you're right.
01:24I think taking the baseball side of it, at least in terms of betting off the table, is
01:30a big deal and really helps and certainly makes Otani seem much more like a victim in
01:37this whole case than maybe it would have originally, even with just that element included.
01:41So that part for Otani is good, for the Dodgers is good, given the investment they've made
01:46in him.
01:47They certainly don't want anything clouding his mind or for the future of the team.
01:53So still a very strange, very bizarre, very unexpected case to kick this year off for
01:59baseball's biggest star and one of baseball's most marketable teams.
