00:00 I think Iron Man's in for a shock when he has to deal with the expert in
00:03 electromagnetism. Here's your look at the brand new Diamond Select Marvel Select
00:07 Crimson Dynamo collector's action figure with accessories.

00:37 Though many have donned the iconic armor of the Crimson Dynamo, no man has borne
00:41 the mantle longer than Dimitri Bakaran. Originally suiting up during the Soviet
00:45 era behest of the KGB, Bakaran's allegiances and affiliations have changed
00:49 numerous times, having acted as both enemy and ally to his longtime American
00:53 counterpart Iron Man. The Crimson Dynamo has most recently served as Motherland
00:57 as member of the heroic Winter Guard. Thanks to Dimitri's recent dealings with
01:01 Diamond Select means we can finally get ourselves a Crimson Dynamo to go on
01:04 display with the earlier looked at Titanium Man. Speaking of Titanium Man, I'll
01:08 be bringing him in a second for size comparisons. Crimson Dynamo isn't gonna
01:12 be as tall as Titanium Man, but the figure looks fantastic along with him.
01:15 The figure is gonna stand at about seven and a half inches in height or Crimson
01:19 Dynamo is gonna be 19 centimeters tall. Speaking of Titanium Man, let's bring the
01:24 figure in right now and dwarf the Crimson Dynamo. There's definitely a size
01:27 difference between the two, but you know this also does remind me of one thing
01:30 about Diamond that they do so well. When they release their Marvel Select figures,
01:33 it doesn't matter whether they're big or tall, short or small, they're all gonna be
01:37 the same price. So yes, sometimes it means that you might pay the same price for a
01:41 slightly smaller figure, but when it comes to the big boys like Titanium Man,
01:44 you're just gonna pay the same price as you would for Crimson Dynamo and I
01:47 respect that. It's not a case where they ever feel the need to build a figure in
01:51 a wave where you have to build a larger figure like Titanium Man and if it was a
01:55 Marvel Legends release of Titanium Man, you got to believe he'd be a lot more
01:58 expensive than regular Marvel Legends releases. Also for Iron Man comparisons, I
02:03 wanted to bring in the Silver Century and always been kind of like one of my
02:06 favorite. It's sort of a charming thing about the larger shoulder pads for
02:09 Silver Centurion and in this case, he's also smaller than Crimson Dynamo. Thanks
02:14 to Diamond Select, Dimitri does get packed with quite a lot of things. The
02:18 less interesting of things is the fact he comes with some interchangeable hands.
02:21 Right now, and probably the least of interesting things is the fact the
02:24 figure does have closed fists on the ends of his forearms. That will though
02:28 change quickly as the figure also comes include gripping hands. You know, it's
02:31 weird to look at gripping hands because you automatically assume that the figure
02:34 is going to come with other accessories for them to hold and yet Crimson Dynamo
02:37 doesn't come included with anything else. I don't know why they necessarily
02:40 included hands like this but again, I always appreciate that they include
02:44 extra things like this. Colors like this with a sort of copperish penny color
02:48 will be consistent. I would say normally from head to toe but obviously he's
02:51 unhelmeted right now. That's going to be changing shortly. If you wanted to change
02:55 these hands, it's very simple in the case of just removing the hands like you're
02:58 milking a cow from either forearm and replacing those out quickly. He also
03:02 comes included with some relaxed hands too. Obviously I just finished talking
03:06 about changing out the hands. I want to show you how easy those hands are to
03:08 change. Just hold on to the forearm, easily yank those off. I mean look at the
03:11 size of the small peg. Very easy to change and then we're just gonna find
03:15 the suitable hand with the thumb facing inward and we're just gonna change that
03:18 out accordingly. I'm also gonna be changing out very shortly as well
03:21 because the figure also comes included with relaxed hands that are actually
03:24 firing off a projection. These little additional energy pieces are actually
03:29 done successfully and very effectively with a translucent red plastic. They're
03:33 fairly hard in fact. I actually thought they'd be a little bit softer than what
03:36 they would actually be but you can see they have them extended out from the
03:39 ends of his fingertips and again it's just a case of changing out the hands.
03:42 We already did this. We're just gonna remove the hand once again. I'll
03:46 do it on one side because I've already done the relaxed hand on the other. It's
03:49 not just to show you as well that I mean you don't have to necessarily have the
03:52 figure always displayed with all of the energy effects. Sometimes it does get a
03:55 little too busy. It's also gonna get quite a lot busier as well because the
03:59 figure does come included with already an unhelmeted head sculpt. You know it's
04:03 a crime in fact that a head sculpt has to be this good. I mean I'm just gonna
04:06 want to bring in the unhelmeted head for Titanium Man which was fine but I always
04:10 like to display again my Iron Man baddies with helmets. If they're a
04:14 character that has a helmet and a suit of armor I always like to display them
04:16 head-to-toe with armor instead. I didn't mind actually as much putting
04:20 this one away in the bag. It was a fine okay head sculpt but I mean for this one
04:24 I almost feel kind of bad I'm putting this away in a bag with all the other
04:27 remaining accessories because I think the head sculpt is too good to not put on
04:31 the figure's body in the first place. I mean I do like the way they've sculpted
04:33 the beard. I like the additional gray that they've added to the bottom of this
04:36 and even like the curlier mustache. If I wasn't say using this for Crimson Dynamo
04:40 I'd like to find maybe a suitably sized figure that I could display this with. If
04:44 you had like an Iron Monger I think that would be an ideal head sculpt to use
04:47 with an Iron Monger instead. But for what it is as good as it may be I mean
04:52 ultimately my end goal is still to display the figure with a helmet instead.
04:55 And he gets one helmet but he has three different ways to display it. I'm not
04:59 hopefully speaking in riddles. He gets this one first that has two eyes and
05:03 then slots in the front for his mouth which is a good looking head for Crimson
05:07 Dynamo. I though prefer this face plate instead. It still keeps the slots in the
05:12 front but what it does then is it trades the eyes on the front for a singular
05:16 visor instead. Just when I think of Crimson Dynamo I tend to think of this
05:20 look personally. And this is actually just an easy case. Instead of actually
05:24 giving us multiple heads we'd have to remove them every single time the
05:28 easiest thing and most effective way of doing this is that they just made it
05:31 replaceable. You just take the plates off. There's a peg on either side and those
05:34 slot into the side slots there and then you just change it out with the the face
05:38 plate that you want to use. You want to just make sure that you're pushing in
05:40 it enough that you feel it locks in place because there's been a couple of
05:44 times that I've moved the figures head around for example and the visor then
05:46 pops off. But I really like this head sculpt. Of the three face plates I mean
05:51 obviously this one here has the blast effect. I really like this one the most.
05:54 Then obviously having already mentioned it the blast effect he also comes in
05:58 clear with happens to use the same visor face plate although now it's projecting
06:02 out energy at the front. We already have a Cyclops from Marvel Select but if they
06:07 did another one following up later on I would love to see them do a very similar
06:11 effect. I mean look how good this looks with the optic blast for Cyclops. I
06:15 think that would work really really well. I mean you can see the way it comes out
06:18 the the middle visor or the top visor there of the face plate and again just
06:22 to change that out just removing it and then you just replace it just like that.
06:25 I don't know when it comes to displaying these if I'm gonna go with the firing
06:30 effects on both the hands and also doing from from the top of his head. I feel
06:33 like it's a little excessive maybe a little maybe a little excessive but if
06:37 you didn't want to see what that looks like what I'm gonna do first I'm gonna
06:40 remove this because there's been a couple of times that if I want to try
06:42 to remove the head I just find it's a lot easier to take the face plates off
06:45 first. So what we're gonna do as good as this head may be and reluctant I am to
06:50 remove it we're just gonna detach the head from the bulb post. It's not
06:53 the easiest thing to do the first time you get this figure. I actually had to
06:56 heat this up a little bit with hot water and then we're gonna go ahead and
06:59 replace it with this one which again I find it's easier to change the face
07:03 plate after after you've put the head in place and again you just put that onto
07:07 the bulge right. With now that in place just to show you again the variations
07:11 that we can go through we'll go back to the beginning. So again you got the two
07:14 eyes and again they've got the little slots on the front of his face. Good
07:17 looking head, good looking head and then just to go back to my favorite of the
07:21 three you have again the visor, same mouth, different eyes. Well if you would
07:26 want to call this eyes again you got the little slot there on the top. Definitely
07:29 my favorite of the three and if you want to see what it looks like with the blast
07:32 effect it's almost like I'm doing an infomercial here. We'll just plug that in
07:36 place. Now again like as good as that looks I feel like having three of these
07:39 one on either hand and then one out the middle might be a little bit too
07:43 excessive. So what I might just do if I want to display this guy in a more
07:47 dynamic more interesting pose might just change it out for a relaxed pair of
07:51 hands. Just pop that in place. Bend the arms just a little bit maybe even like
07:55 bend the legs and have the figure displayed like that. I think that would
07:58 look really cool as well but for at least the purpose of obviously we're
08:01 gonna look at the articulation on the figure so it might be a little bit
08:04 easier just to replace it back default it back to a regular visor and again
08:07 like the consistency of color we've got this really nice metallic copper color
08:11 here it's everywhere head to toe top to bottom front to back
08:15 interesting thing about the back of Crimson Dynamo is that you'll see
08:18 there's a very obvious hole there this hole doesn't serve any purpose at all
08:21 with him but I would imagine probably serves a purpose with a figure down the
08:24 road obviously he has the large cups on the side they actually kind of remind me
08:29 a Reese's peanut butter cups obviously the cups on the peanut butters would be
08:33 black but it kind of reminds me very similar to that it's kind of these
08:35 little cog wheels that he has on the sides what they smartly did was if you
08:39 look at it it's not consistently a circle all the way around it sure spins
08:43 but they also put a little gap space down below here so not only can his arm
08:47 sit flush against his body but also if you wanted to bring him forward for
08:50 example he does have again like that it doesn't it's not a case where like his
08:54 arm has to sit further out here just to clear this part of the shoulder there's
08:58 a little cut in there as well so again it keeps it pretty close to his body
09:01 nice detail overall I mean there's really not a lot of paint happening I
09:05 think where he's executed better is just with a sculpting because if you if you're
09:08 familiar with Crimson Dynamo kind of this is the color scheme that you expect
09:12 to see there's really a not a lot of other things get thrown onto this figure
09:15 but like the coloring of the plastic that uses really quite good now for the
09:19 articulation on this guy back to his head is gonna be on a ball joint you may
09:23 have already seen the fact that there's a there's a post at the top or there's a
09:26 post in the middle and there's a ball joint at the top ball joint at the
09:28 bottom so in between the two he does have quite the range of motion you can
09:31 move the head back and forth up and down really you could rotate the head although
09:35 all the way around these shoulders work in such a smart way and that they rotate
09:39 well first of all when you rotate the arms you can rotate this joint as well
09:42 so you can rotate everything together the arms come out easily at 90 degrees
09:46 there is no necessarily swivel well there's a swivel here on his bicep but
09:51 when you are like rotating the arm for example like I said you're just gonna
09:54 rotate all of this together but he has a swivel there in his bicep single hinge
09:58 only in his elbow but it allows at least the forearm to rotate of course you got
10:01 your hand rotation all the way around all that fun stuff
10:04 hinging back and forth and then when you get to the torso the thing about the
10:08 torso is even though it's kind of really hard to see if you bring the the torso
10:12 as far back as you can get it you can see like they didn't cheat things at all
10:16 I mean because if you're looking at it straight flush forward like this you'd
10:19 only see like this part of his abdomen so you would think that they cut off the
10:24 sculpting from that point on and it would just be completely flat but diamond
10:27 finished it all the way up so if you happen if you happen to angle crimson
10:31 dynamo further back like this you can see that they've still have finished the
10:34 rest of the abdomen underneath that really nice attention to detail upper
10:38 torso is gonna be on that ball joint you've got the lower torso ball joint
10:41 that does also rotate here as well and he also has a rotation here in his belt
10:45 or I guess where his belt would be angles his legs do angle outward there
10:49 on ball joints once again you take the legs and move forward move them back he
10:53 has a swivel although it's really tight here on the thigh but it does at least
10:56 allow the leg move back and forth he has only just a single hinge on the knee now
11:00 that I really necessarily needed double hinges I don't think the figure
11:02 necessarily I mean when you have a figure this size is it really important
11:05 that you're gonna get a double hinge I don't feel it's necessary I mean I think
11:09 where the value of a figure like this is the size and just the amount of
11:12 plastic that they put into him that by sacrificing a double hinge on the knee
11:15 it's not gonna bother me at all I has no articulation here although I would have
11:19 thought that this would be a part that would swivel back and forth but it's not
11:22 the case he does still though have ankle pivot that moves back and forth you can
11:25 also ankle rocket and in case you were curious the figure does have peg holes
11:29 on the undersides of his feet again I if anything I only feel just a little bit
11:34 bad because diamond put so much work into the alternate head sculpt here that
11:38 ultimately I'm just gonna be putting it back in the bag I really do want to use
11:41 this for something but I just can't think of what what I will though
11:44 ultimately be doing is displaying this guy on the shelf if I just pull back
11:47 bring back in my titanium man you know crimson dynamo looks really good at
11:51 titanium man keeping again like basic colors basic colors I don't think that
11:54 diamond really needed to land a lot of additional paint applications on him
11:58 just relying on the plastic for two characters like this is more than enough
12:01 crimson dynamo being a little bit small smaller a lot smaller actually than
12:04 titanium and the two figures really will look good on a shelf together perhaps a
12:09 compromise is in order when it comes to displaying crimson dynamo I like the
12:13 blast effects that he has on the ends of his fingers I also like the one that he
12:16 has coming out from his visor but I think to have all three just my own
12:19 personal preference I think it's maybe a little bit too much unfortunately the
12:23 hardest thing when it comes to diamonds like Marvel releases is that they
12:26 include so many good accessories for me like Dimitri's head sculpt being as good
12:30 as it was it pains me to have to put that away in a bag with all the rest of
12:33 his remaining accessories just because unfortunately I already got titanium man
12:37 displayed from head to toe in his armor and when it comes to crimson dynamo no
12:40 pun intended I'd like to follow suit now what do you guys think of crimson dynamo
