9to5 Warriors The Breakroom Bandits Colonel Custard Figure
Transcript
00:00 You gotta be careful. This felon's got frosting.
00:03 Here's a look at the brand new 9-5 Warriors Break Room Bandits, Colonel Custard.
00:08 [music]
00:14 [clattering]
00:19 As the leader of the Break Room Bandits, Colonel Custard is coldered in the frappa he was ordered with.
00:23 He's hell-bent on total office domination, creating dangerous new subordinates
00:27 any time he can get his hands on the jinx-ay energy, the beverage that started it all.
00:31 Coupled with a severe Napoleon complex, he's the most dangerous leftover in the office.
00:36 It's really a shame when good food goes bad.
00:39 But just before, of course, we get a closer look at the 9-5 Warriors Colonel Custard,
00:42 I'd like to thank the folks over at 9-5 Warriors that did provide this sample we could have a look at.
00:47 If, you know, the name does sound familiar to you and you think,
00:50 "I think I've seen Spot review those before here on this channel,"
00:53 it's because not only did I review the 9-5 Warriors Office Warfare Trading Cards first series like 10 years ago,
00:59 but I also did a follow-up video where I looked at the first shift comic issue #1, which was about 9 years ago.
01:05 Now they're finally actually producing figures for that, and I gotta say the figures look pretty cool.
01:09 The figure, though, of Colonel Custard does have really removable tape,
01:12 so if you wanted just to include how tall the figure is on his own,
01:15 then he's only about 3 inches in height, or he's about 7.5 centimeters tall.
01:20 I had to bring the camera out just so I could bring the packaging in.
01:23 Get a load of the packaging that comes with these 9-5 Warriors.
01:26 Not only do you have a unique art of the character up the top corner,
01:29 so Colonel Custard is dripping his frosting face all over the place.
01:33 It also comes included with a shield, which is one thing that's also kind of come with the figure.
01:36 But then also on the back, there's a section where you can actually cut out a file card,
01:41 giving you not only their nickname, their specialty, their weapons and weaknesses,
01:44 and as well the bio that I read at the beginning of this review.
01:47 Underneath that, there's actually a part from the comic book,
01:50 and below that, obviously if this is going to be inspired by 80s toy lines,
01:53 it's going to have as well all the breakdown of the other characters that are available.
01:57 Now, these are available at Big Bad Toy Store.
01:59 It's actually one of the places where I looked online, and they're selling for around $24.99,
02:03 which I think for a line that doesn't have a big PO space at retail stores,
02:07 I think $24.99 is pretty affordable.
02:10 Now, for $24.99, you're also getting two accessories here with Colonel Custard,
02:14 one being his cape, which is removable.
02:16 The other thing that he has is also this really cool looking shield.
02:19 It's supposed to be the top of a coffee cup,
02:21 and remember when you have a coffee cup, you flip the lid up here,
02:24 and you just snap this down.
02:25 That's basically what they've done here as well.
02:27 You can kind of even see the little perforations on either side,
02:29 where the lip would have been folded over.
02:31 But on the back of that, there's actually a little handle that Colonel Custard can actually hold.
02:35 It seems like this is actually maybe two pieces put together.
02:38 It does have a little more of a hollowness to it, but it's a really nice sculpted shield.
02:43 He does have the means to hold it with either one of his hands, because he does have gripping hands.
02:47 You can take this, for example, and I did notice, though, while trying to put it in his hand,
02:51 it squeaks a little bit, almost to the point where I was worried it was going to break.
02:55 But him holding the shield just makes the figure look that much cooler.
02:58 I did already mention that he does also have a removable cape, so you can of course take that off.
03:02 It doesn't necessarily plug in place.
03:04 It literally is just, you're taking the sides here for the shoulders,
03:07 and it just drapes over top the front of the figure's body.
03:10 Again, his body basically is just his face.
03:12 Let's go ahead and remove the shield right now.
03:14 Carefully just take that and put it off to the side.
03:16 I guess we could also really ... Do you want to take the cape off?
03:18 Okay, I'll just quickly show you guys what the cape looks like.
03:21 Sculpted very nicely here in purple plastic.
03:23 You can see, again, little wrinkles and folds and stuff to the cape itself.
03:26 I mean, I suppose there could have been a better way to ... They could have attached the cape.
03:30 But with doing it the way that they did, at least it doesn't leave behind any slightly holes,
03:34 where of course this would have plugged in place.
03:36 Maybe really that was the smartest way they could have attached the cape,
03:39 as obviously it's going to stay in place until the moment you decide you want to take it off.
03:43 Getting a look at Colonel Custard's face.
03:45 What an ugly mug he has.
03:47 Large yellow eyes. Of course, he's got the little ... I shouldn't even say little.
03:51 He's got these giant caterpillar eyebrows.
03:53 He also seems to have bags under his eyes as well.
03:55 I don't know what kind of frosting this guy would have had inside initially,
03:58 but it looks like it's gone soured, spoiled perhaps.
04:02 You can see it's green, and it looks like somebody has clearly taken a bite to the side.
04:05 They didn't like the donut and just discarded it off to the side.
04:08 Maybe that's the thing that's made him so evil.
04:10 He's got all these cool little sprinkles that he's got on the front of his face.
04:12 I love the scowl that he has, not to mention just the disgust that he has on his face.
04:16 He's got tiny little legs also as well.
04:18 It's a really nice looking, tiny little donut character.
04:22 He does also have posability too, but the posability is only going to be relegated to just the shoulders and the legs.
04:27 Nice detail he's got on the side there as well.
04:29 I don't know if those are supposed to be parts of a paper clip, maybe even a staple.
04:34 I guess it's probably maybe a staple.
04:35 He's just taken it in two halves and sort of taped it around his forearm.
04:38 He's also got it on this side as well.
04:40 I guess those are weapons that he can also wield as well.
04:42 The figure only has, when it comes to articulation, just swivels on the shoulders.
04:46 Of course, those only rotate all the way around.
04:48 He has no articulation here at all for the hands, but his legs do also sit forward as well.
04:54 I don't know if their plan down the road is to actually release these with vehicles,
04:57 but of course if it is based on an 80s toy line, similar to what you would expect in an 80s toy line,
05:02 I certainly hope that vehicles are something that they may consider down the road.
05:06 Again, it's a really interesting looking figure.
05:08 He's got, of course, pegs on the underside of his feet too.
05:10 The figure doesn't have a display stand.
05:12 I don't think he necessarily needs a display stand either because the figure stands perfectly fine.
05:16 Of course, he also has the benefit, like I said, of having the cape.
05:18 So he can take the cape and put it over top of his shoulders as well and give him a shield.
05:22 There is, as of right now, the listings of four, I believe, of the 9 to 5 Warrior figures over on.
05:27 Again, I only say Big Bad Toy Store.
05:29 I probably could have checked around other online sites and maybe they would have also had the listings there as well.
05:33 But for $24.99, again, I think that's a pretty good price.
05:36 You get, of course, the cape. You also get yourself a little shield.
05:39 For me, at least, growing up with the 80s toy lines similar to this, like I think the Food Warriors.
05:44 Was it Food Warriors? Food Wars?
05:46 That was a toy line also as well that had, again, elaborate looking characters depicted from food sources,
05:51 obviously food ideas, with Colonel Custard and the remaining of the Break Room Bandits.
05:56 I think some of them are going to be food related.
05:58 Some of them are also going to be just things found around the office.
06:00 And, of course, you've got the good guys, the Water Cooler Commandos.
06:03 Pretty neat looking characters as well.
06:05 Again, if you guys are interested, these are available as of right now.
06:08 I don't know how much they actually have them available, whether they will sell out fast.
06:12 But, again, if you are one that did grow up in the 80s, collecting lines similar to this, you might really dig the 9 to 5 Warriors.
06:19 That other toy line I was trying to think of was Food Fighters, which was a Mattel property that they did in about the mid-80s or so.
06:26 I wonder if they actually would have been scaled in the 9 to 5 Warriors size,
06:29 that if you had the original Food Fighters, you could have the 9 to 5 Warriors along with them as well.
06:34 Never had the original Food Fighters always was a line that, looking back on it now, I really wish I could have collected.
06:40 At least now I can collect the 9 to 5 Warriors, taking a similar concept and throwing it in an office space instead.
06:47 Of course, on the one side, on the bad guys side, you've got the Break Room Bandits.
06:50 And then on the good guys side, you have the Water Cooler Commandos.
06:53 Thanks to the folks over at 9 to 5 for actually providing not only Colonel Custard, but also in an upcoming review,
06:58 we're going to have a look at one of the figures from the Water Cooler Commandos.
07:01 If you guys are, again, interested, get this one for yourself.
07:04 You can check online. Again, I went to BBTS and they had it for $24.99.
07:08 Colonel Custard was one of them, with another three of the figures there as well.
07:12 If you guys also want to follow them over on Instagram and Twitter, I can also provide all their socials down below,
07:17 just to get an up-to-date idea of what's new in the world of 9 to 5 Warriors.
07:23 If you guys did enjoy this video, why not throw it a like?
07:25 If you guys are loving the content you guys are seeing, and certainly would like to stick around for more,
07:30 like I said, we are going to be looking at a character from the Water Cooler Commandos,
07:34 courtesy of the folks over at 9 to 5 Warriors, that will be coming up in an upcoming video.
07:38 Making sure that you're not missing out by hitting that subscribe, making sure you're not missing out by turning on the bell notification.
07:42 But the most important thing, always the most important thing, is that you're coming back here on a regular basis.
07:47 As always guys, thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
