00:15 I'm Mary Thomas, Insiders Editorial Director,

00:18 and I'm joined by Northwest Business Insiders Business Editor, Robin Hewson.

00:23 Robin, what caught your eye in the news today?

00:25 So a big story from the Midlands today was about Palm Structure being acquired

00:29 following the retirement of its owner.

00:31 So that's Fortress Investment Group that's picked it up

00:34 and they already have a portfolio across the UK,

00:37 Majestic Wines and Punch Pubs that you might have heard of,

00:40 and this is the latest investment for them.

00:42 What's caught your eye today?

00:43 Well, as you know, I love all the science and tech news,

00:46 so catching my eye today is the Top 100 Fastest Growing Tech Companies in the North by G.P. Bullhound.

00:52 So every year they compile their Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies

00:56 to be unveiled at the Northern Tech Awards on the 25th of April.

01:00 So on the list are companies from right across the north of England as well as Scotland.

01:05 They include Pimberley in the northwest,

01:07 Travel Tech in Scotland,

01:09 Opencast Software in the northeast,

01:11 and XR Games in Yorkshire.

01:13 Currently that list is in alphabetical order,

01:16 so we'll have to wait until later on in April when they reveal the fastest growing.

01:20 I'm super excited about that because I get to go to that event

01:23 and hopefully shoot some video from there as well.

01:25 Wow, amazing.

01:26 What else have you seen in the news?

01:28 So in the northwest today, a big one was Big Fang Collective,

01:31 who own Ghetto Golf, Golf Fang, and all their cool venues like that

01:34 with the crazy golf, they have graffiti everywhere,

01:38 and it's sort of blown up.

01:39 They started in Liverpool and they were one of our most exciting companies,

01:42 and they've spread out across the UK over the years,

01:45 and the latest news is three new venues,

01:47 one in London, which is their first there,

01:49 and two others across the UK,

01:51 so that was an exciting one for the region.

01:53 And what's the most exciting companies?

01:54 So we run that every year, and it's for companies all across the northwest,

01:58 so it could be from Manchester, from Cumbria,

02:00 anywhere in the northwest that's a really exciting up-and-coming company

02:04 that we think should be on everyone's radar,

02:06 and then we bring all the companies together for a big event later in the year.

02:10 That's actually going into the next issue of Insider,
