00:00 Hi there, it's John Blow from the Yorkshire Post here. I'm going to take you through some
00:04 of the things coming up in the week ahead. First of all, a celebration of the written
00:08 word will take place in West Yorkshire this week as the Huddersfield Literature Festival
00:12 gets underway. Starting on Thursday, it will present an impressive line-up of writers and
00:16 activities for more than two weeks until Sunday, April 28th. That includes on the first day
00:21 an evening of poetry and music featuring poet laureate and Huddersfield native Simon Armitage
00:28 with his band L.Y.R. Elsewhere, there will be a chance to support good causes as the
00:34 North Leeds Charity Beer Festival takes place. Organised and run by the Rotary Club of Roundhay,
00:39 the event goes ahead on Friday and Saturday with a family-friendly session happening on
00:44 the second day between noon and 5.30pm. Meanwhile, art lovers can look forward to this year's
00:50 first weekend of York Open Studios on Saturday and Sunday. The annual community event showcases
00:56 artists and makers living or working within a 10-mile radius of the city, providing an
01:02 opportunity for the public to visit their studios and workshops. Ruppin Cathedral will
01:08 play host on Saturday to the Spring Food, Home and Garden show. Visitors can enjoy food
01:13 from local businesses, discover the latest trends in home decor and get inspiration for
01:17 their gardens during the event between 10am and 4pm.
