00:00 Hello, I'm Sam Morton here with Henry Bryant, reporter for Sussex World. We've just watched
00:05 Brighton draw 0-0 at Brentford in a pretty boring Premier League game to be honest, wasn't
00:09 it? I think Brighton had the better chances and they were the team most likely to win
00:13 it, but it was a bit of a dull game. How would you assess that one, Henry?
00:18 Well I think that Brighton didn't come into the game with enough intensity as they should
00:22 have. There's been a lot of lacklustre performances recently with Brighton just not being able
00:27 to put their foot on the gas. A lot of chances created and in the post-match press conference
00:32 to Zerbe talked about six chances that he thought his side should have scored. But just
00:38 overall Brentford are a really strong, physically strong defensive team and they did really
00:45 well to thwart off the Brighton attack, especially with the likes of Jarl Pedro back in the squad.
00:50 So for me it was a really disappointing game in that sense for Brighton. I think we just
00:56 need to get some results through if we are to secure a European spot. But yeah, a boring
01:02 0-0 draw.
01:03 Yeah, you mentioned Jarl Pedro being back and he was a really lively performer, wasn't
01:07 it? De Zerbe really praised him for the way that he performed and it was almost like he'd
01:11 never been away, wasn't it? The way that he was really trying to find those gaps in the
01:15 defence and get shots off. It obviously wasn't his night but he's going to make such a difference
01:19 in these final eight games, isn't he?
01:21 Absolutely. And as Xheria was saying, how difficult it is to play against Brentford.
01:26 So for us it was really positive to see him back and creating most of our chances and
01:31 actually getting us up the pitch, especially in times of need. So it was really good.
01:35 Just a word to the defenders, Henry. Lewis Dunk and Jan-Paul van Gekker, who have been
01:39 brilliant throughout the season, really did perform well, getting to keep Ivan-Tony quiet.
01:43 So just a word on them and how well they performed.
01:45 Yeah, well I think that in terms of the defence, Brighton have been shaky in some games and
01:51 I think the fact that we were able to get a clean sheet today is one of the positives
01:56 of this game. I know the fans are probably going away thinking, 'Oh, we should have maybe
02:01 nipped something in the dying embers of the game, especially with the Danny Woelbeck chance.'
02:05 But look, the defence was really good tonight and I think that it showed the solidness of
02:10 our defence. Jan-Paul van Gekker is really turning into a really important player for
02:15 Brighton and it showed.
