The M6 Junction 10 is now finished but locals next to it say they haven't seen any improvement in traffic, and trees that were a sound barrier were removed, and requests for a sound barrier wall fell on deaf ears. Our Dan investigates.

00:00 So we're standing here on the edge of junction 10, the M6 junction 10, which has just been officially opened.
00:06 All the lanes are now open.
00:08 So yeah, it's been officially opened. It's the end of a four year job.
00:12 It started in March 2020, it's just finished. It's about two years overdue.
00:17 I think it cost around about 78 million.
00:19 We've been down here speaking to residents who have said that it hasn't really helped that much.
00:24 It sort of has, but at the same time it's also made life worse.
00:28 As you can see behind me, they've put down the trees here, which some residents have said hasn't really helped them
00:33 when it comes to noise pollution and also just regular, you know, the car emissions as well.
00:38 Apparently the houses that are to the right of me, they get quite a lot of the noise from the motorway
00:43 where they never used to before the junction 10 works took place.
00:48 We did do a drive-through on junction 10 as well.
00:51 We were a person who had never driven on it before and it wasn't very, it didn't go very well.
00:56 At the end they took the wrong turn and they managed to jump, they managed to have to jump across four lanes
01:00 to get to the correct lane.
01:02 They said the markings are very good, but at the end of the day it is a very busy roundabout.
01:06 It is a very confusing one with the extra amount of lanes that are added.
01:10 All in all though, it is a very good junction. It's something that needed to happen, I think, in the long run
01:15 just because of how busy and how much traffic accumulated on there.
01:19 But residents have said that it hasn't really helped them when it comes down to it.
01:22 You still get a lot of traffic on there at rush hour times as well,
01:26 and especially at 7am, 8am when people are going to work or 5 o'clock when people are coming back.
01:32 So you still get quite a bit of traffic on there.
01:35 But yeah, that's it really. Residents have said that it hasn't really helped them out in the long run.
01:39 Drivers have said that it has.
01:42 But it's something that needed to happen.
