00:00 Daniel Wilson with the Express and Start, we're here on quite a windy day next to the
00:04 M6 Junction 10.
00:06 As you can see we've been walking through the talks of residents up and down the road
00:09 to get their opinions on the M6 now that it is nearly finished Junction 10 Ireland.
00:14 As you can see it's running quite smoothly now but residents have said that there has
00:17 been a bit of backlog on the road, especially with the new diversions that are in place,
00:22 the road markings.
00:23 They've mostly been talking about the confusion of the constant change in road markings.
00:27 As you can see behind me as well there is a fair bit of deforestation which residents
00:30 have said is appalling.
00:32 Some residents have said that they've had their complete row of trees knocked down behind
00:36 their houses.
00:37 Just down the way here we have talked to residents as well who have said that they live very
00:40 close to the Black Country route.
00:42 They've said that during the night, during the early morning time, 1, 2, 3am, there's
00:47 been very loud noises, roadworks and what not, which they've said have played absolute
00:52 hell on their mental health.
00:55 Residents have said that they do hope that it's all sorted when Junction 10 is finished
01:00 which I guess they'll have to see.
01:03 It's been an absolute nightmare because sometimes they've been starting the works at 10, 11
01:08 o'clock at night and it's been going on until sometimes 6 o'clock in the morning.
01:14 So it's been constant.
01:15 We've had to have triple glazing in our house, in this house, which obviously is an added
01:19 expense to us.
01:22 And then obviously we had loads of trees down this side which apparently is something to
01:27 do with making the roads easier for the motorists that side.
01:35 But they've taken all those trees down which was obviously a sound barrier for us.
01:39 Oh really?
01:40 And it's took off.
01:42 We've lost all the wildlife that we had around here.
01:44 We've lost all the...
01:45 I mean obviously it was a bit of a like, you know, it used to trap some of the fumes and
01:50 now it's not.
01:51 But for us, I mean it's my husband's house but I mean we're married.
01:55 He's lived here 20 odd years.
01:57 I've wanted to move that many times.
01:59 I hate it.
02:00 Really?
02:01 Yeah.
02:02 Has that increased since?
02:03 Oh definitely.
02:04 Yeah, yeah.
02:05 Because it's just, it never seems to end.
02:07 It's never ended.
02:08 It was just a constant noise in my opinion.
02:12 It went on too long.
02:13 Although we used to have letters shoved in the door saying, you know, you're going to
02:17 have some noise and disruption tonight.
02:18 It wasn't what I was expecting.
02:20 It was sheer hell.
02:21 It was.
02:22 Sort of like the last question really.
02:23 Do you think that now that it's finished it's worth it?
02:24 Do you reckon it's going to be worth it when it's done?
02:25 As regards flowing of traffic, possibly.
02:26 Everything else they've done by shortening the roads up to it and putting a bike lane
02:27 in is a complete waste of money in my opinion.
02:28 But they've never...
02:29 I mean as I say, it's devalued our house.
02:30 It's devalued our property.
02:31 It's devalued our property.
02:32 It's devalued our property.
02:33 It's devalued our property.
02:34 It's devalued our property.
02:35 It's devalued our property.
02:36 It's devalued our property.
02:37 It's devalued our property.
02:38 It's devalued our property.
02:39 It's devalued our property.
03:00 It's devalued our property.
03:24 It's devalued our property.
03:50 It's devalued our property.
04:00 It's devalued our property.
04:10 It's devalued our property.
04:30 It's devalued our property.
04:42 - Let's go with that.
