00:00 Russia escalated its air terror against Ukraine. It launched 190 missiles of various types,
00:08 140 Shahed drones and 700 guided aerial bombs against Ukraine in just one week,
00:15 from March 18th to 24th. These strikes targeted energy facilities, critical infrastructure and
00:23 civilians, resulting in significant casualties and damage, as well as power outages in entire cities.
00:31 What distinguishes current Russian attacks is the extensive use of ballistic missiles. As we speak,
00:38 just some minutes ago there was another ballistic missile attack on the city of
00:44 Mykolaiv and the time gap between the air raid siren and the factual strike,
00:50 which is the moment when the missile hits the target, was only a couple of minutes.
00:55 So it poses extreme hazard to human life. And unfortunately our cities face this reality on
01:05 a daily basis. Therefore, Ukraine urgently requires more air defense and interceptors,
01:13 particularly Patriot and other systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles.
01:19 There are Patriot systems available around the world. Partners can provide them if there is
01:26 enough political will. And this will must occur now. Ukraine is currently the only country in
01:35 the world that is subjected to ballistic missile attacks almost every day. Patriots must be
01:42 stationed in Ukraine now to protect real human lives, rather than remaining in areas where the
01:47 missile threat is zero. Strong Ukrainian air defense will bring three critically important
01:54 outcomes. First and foremost, strong Ukrainian air defense will save thousands of human lives,
01:59 which is a noble goal in itself. Patriot and other such systems are defensive by definition.
02:06 They are designed to protect lives instead of taking them. Second, strong Ukrainian air
02:14 defense will save a significant amount of resources for Ukraine's partners. Every area
02:20 covered by Patriot means less destruction of critical infrastructure and less funds for
02:25 recovery. Every city reliably protected by Patriot will see thousands of Ukrainians return
02:32 from abroad, strengthening Ukraine's economy and reducing its reliance on foreign financial aid.
02:38 Third, strong Ukrainian air defense will cover our troops and allow them to turn the tide of
02:46 the war in Ukraine's favor. Russia's main battlefield advantage right now is its extensive
02:52 use of guided aerial bombs. These bombs, which weigh between 500 and 1,500 kilograms on average,
03:01 allow Russian occupiers to literally annihilate entire areas before moving forward through their
03:07 ruins. The only way to counter these barbaric tactics is to shoot down the aircraft dropping
03:12 the bombs, which requires a sufficient number of modern air defense systems on the front lines.
03:18 Strong frontline air defense would allow our forces to not only avoid losing ground,
03:24 but also put the Russians on the back foot.
