Transcript
00:00 Now that I've left school I hope to go off and train to become an electrical and electronic engineer.
00:05 To do this I'm going to have to go down south.
00:07 I'd like to come up to Wick to work, you know, settle, get a family and that, but there's no jobs up here.
00:12 Wick has a very active community, a lively community, and lots of social things for older folk perhaps,
00:19 but I'm not quite sure what there is for the young folk.
00:23 I'm not quite sure just what the future holds for them.
00:28 One of our more illustrious residents has been Robert Louis Stevenson himself of course.
00:34 He described Wick as being the meanest of God's tombs and the baldest of God's bays,
00:41 and he later on of course, I think he took it back a bit, he repented.
00:45 Let's leave outdated views in the past and look forward to the future of Caithness and Sutherland.
00:52 Join Focus North as we transform perceptions and celebrate our strengths.
00:58 Far from holding us back, our location and incredible natural assets give us the advantage.
01:03 Our region is already a global leader in nuclear decommissioning,
01:06 and we're now leading the transition to a green economy,
01:09 with onshore and offshore wind, tidal, hydrogen, and emerging expertise in space, data and conservation science.
01:16 Our world-class surfing, stunning coastal walks and warm hospitality
01:21 draw visitors from around the world to discover our unspoilt landscape and our endless skies.
