Have you spotted the illuminated planets above Briggate? Take a look at the Leodis Space Agency and other events you and the family can get up to in Leeds this Easter.

00:00 There's an egg-citing amount of fun to be had for all the family this Easter in Leeds
00:05 and you may have already spotted these planets illuminating Brigitte. It's all part of the
00:10 Leodis Space Agency by Leeds Bid and Welcome to Leeds.
00:14 We want people to just come and enjoy the city centre, spend time here and have a bit
00:18 of fun with space. Leodis was the original name in history that the Romans gave to this
00:25 part of the world, that's why Leodis. And the Space Agency gives you six different opportunities
00:31 to experience space. Behind me is a relative scale model of a recent rocket and you can
00:38 come and see that for free on Brigitte at any point over the next three weeks. All of
00:42 the trail itself is free.
00:44 Greetings, welcome to the Leodis Space Agency. Come on in.
00:50 We have a lunar landing module. This is the famous One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap
00:56 for Mankind spacecraft. That's in Trinity opposite the Eye Store. We have a rocket launch
01:03 space station in the railway station. See what we did there? Quite clever. And up at
01:08 the Merian Centre we have a VR immersive experience called Alien Zoo. I won't give too much away
01:14 because this is definitely a highlight, but you enter a space unit and then you put on
01:21 the headset and you are in an alien world. We thought, well, the solar system is quite
01:25 important to the whole understanding of space. So we're hanging and you can see here behind
01:29 me, I believe, Jupiter first, then Saturn, just slightly behind Jupiter, and then Neptune
01:34 and Uranus. And down the bottom end we've got Mars and Earth and the Sun, or the Moon,
01:41 I should know. Some ten-year-old will be able to tell me perfectly. And at night they're
01:46 lovely to look at anyway. It's just a bit of fun and photo moment for people. But at
01:50 night they do actually light up.
01:52 Leeds City Museum is also hosting a programme of space fun throughout the Easter holidays,
01:57 including an immersive planetarium in the main hall, drop-in cosmic crafts and a constellation
02:02 trail.
02:04 We've got some spacecrafts again. It's not that clever, but you know, it works. It's
02:10 in a unit in Trinity, just at the top of the escalator, and there's free colouring and
02:14 rocket building and experiencing space in a physical, hands-on way.
02:20 Other Leeds venues hosting Easter events, which may get you jumping for joy, include
02:25 Temple Newsome, which has just welcomed some new arrivals to Home Farm. As well as piglets,
02:30 lambs and kids, their fabulous Food and Fancy Feast exhibit explores food and feasts from
02:36 the past.
02:38 There's also plenty of Easter fun to be found at Lollerton Hall, Tropical World, Harewood
02:43 House, Abbey House Museum, the White Rose Centre and the Leeds Discovery Centre. And
02:48 the Thackray Museum of Medicine will see HMS Thackray setting sail on a voyage into uncharted
02:54 waters to explore medicine at sea through the ages.
