00:00 Beyoncé didn't feel welcome in country, but Maren has her back.
00:03 Glorilla is joining Meg in Olivia's deluxe.
00:07 We hang out with Chief Keef at Rolling Loud.
00:10 Go backstage with New Jeans and Bebe Rexha at Women in Music.
00:14 Head to Madrid with Nicki Nicole.
00:16 And are on set with Dave East.
00:19 Happy Wednesday, March 20th, and I gotta say Billboard News really be doing the thing.
00:27 We have so much great behind the scenes content for you.
00:30 But before we give you the VIP treatment, here's three things in music news you need to know today.
00:36 Beyoncé's cowboy Carter arrives on March 29th and she just unveiled the very iconic cover
00:42 in which she's back on the saddle in the most patriotic way.
00:45 And boy did she get candid in the caption saying,
00:48 "It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcome.
00:53 And it was very clear that I wasn't. But because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music
00:59 and studied our rich musical archive. This ain't a country album, this is a Beyoncé album."
01:05 Fans think she was talking about this country award show with the Chicks.
01:09 Maren Morris commented on the post, "Drag them queen."
01:19 And I agree! I love her reclaiming all these genres that black people had a role in creating.
01:25 We are so excited for Cowboy Carter and Act 3.
01:28 And Megan Thee Stallion announced her tour, but now we have dates and an opener.
01:33 Glorilla will be joining the Hot Girl Summer Tour.
01:35 It kicks off May in Minneapolis and goes international before wrapping in D.C. late July.
01:45 Yeah, Glo! We 'bout to be in these streets.
01:48 And lastly, Olivia Rodrigo announced during her show on the G.U.T.S. tour that the G.U.T.S. album is getting a deluxe.
01:54 G.U.T.S. Filled includes five new tracks, four of which have been on vinyls and new tracks so American
02:00 that was recorded after the album was released.
02:03 Injected in my veins! It's out Friday the 22nd.
02:07 Some advice that I would give to women in the industry, well actually we're like very new to the industry too.
02:17 So we're still learning and I would just like to say that believe in yourself,
02:22 trust your gut feeling and don't get hurt because that would be very sad.
02:29 I think it's a very, very important thing to have friends like my members around you.
02:37 I think without them it wouldn't be this much fun and you know exciting.
02:41 So have good friends around you I think would be a really important factor.
02:45 Hi, I'm Bebe Rexha and this is 5 Things You Don't Know About My Music.
02:49 My favorite music video I've ever shot was Sacrifice and it was inspired by the movie Blade.
02:59 And it's me and my vampire girlfriends and we seek revenge on a very bad guy.
03:06 Every time I record a song it's always different.
03:09 Sometimes I'll start with chords, sometimes I'll start with a concept or a title.
03:14 Sometimes something happens to me that day and I want to write about it.
03:17 But the recording process for me changes every time.
03:20 But a lot of the songs that have been the most successful on the charts have been stuff that have started just with me and the piano.
03:30 I love performing in Amsterdam but also I loved it when I was in Japan as well, that was really fun.
03:37 I don't love just one place, I personally just love meeting fans from everywhere around the world.
03:42 I always want to see what the city looks like.
03:44 And not just go to the touristy parts, I like finding the grungy places, that's fun for me.
03:49 My first album ever was called Expectations and it was based off of a quote that an old manager told me.
03:56 At the point I was going through the music industry as a songwriter, kept getting in really not great situations.
04:04 And he told me, he's like, "Honestly, the best thing in life is having no expectations."
04:08 So whether you're going on a date or walking into a studio session or meeting somebody,
04:15 don't think, "Oh, I hope this date goes well," or build a fantasy in your head.
04:19 Just walk in very neutral.
04:21 And I feel like that's the reason why I called my album Expectations, that was my first album.
04:25 My favorite accomplishment ever is I was studying to be a classically trained opera singer.
04:31 And I got into this program, it was like a New York City program, a New York State program, and it's very hard to get into it.
04:37 That was a really exciting moment for me.
04:39 But the crazy thing is, what happens is when you get picked, you go upstate New York and you sing with a whole choir.
04:44 It's like a choir situation. And I ended up getting the flu that day.
04:47 But you know, that's life. But here I am at the Billboard Women in Music.
04:52 And you know Billboard is your bestie when we travel internationally for you.
04:56 And this time, we're in Madrid.
05:04 Billboard Español cover star Nicki Nicole opened up about breakups, heartache, and a new song with her longtime idol Alejandro Sanz.
05:13 She appeared at Billboard's first ever Encuentro de la Musica en Español in partnership with the city of Madrid.
05:20 The event showcased Spanish and Latin American music and talent to celebrate the global rise of Spanish music.
05:27 Showcasing artists from both sides of the Atlantic, the conference featured Spanish icon Rafael, who sat down for an exclusive Q&A.
05:35 Nicki Nicole gave an amazing performance backed by a three-piece band, playing a totally new version of her greatest hits.
05:46 The Argentinian singer and rapper will play her first sold-out arena show in Spain on March 21st, after nine sold-out shows in Buenos Aires.
05:54 The event also featured conversations with artists like Luis Cobos, La Mala Rodriguez, and Paula Sendejas, as well as music executives and managers.
06:03 And we make it back to LA for Rolling Loud, and even though it was three days ago, I am still tired. But man, did we have a time.
06:22 Chief Keef is the epitome of a mood. And from following him to his juice set at Rolling Loud, and heading backstage with him in Micromated,
06:29 it went down with the man Sosa and Billboard News.
06:33 Arriving just before his set, everybody, and I mean everybody, was excited for Chief Keef at Rolling Loud.
06:40 And he ran to the stage to give the people what they wanted.
06:44 [Music]
07:12 And right afterwards, he was in high demand, as he doesn't do press often.
07:16 But Billboard was able to hop in the van with the legend for some hilarious shenanigans.
07:21 [Music]
07:30 He used to cruise backstage and chat all about the show and his new projects.
07:34 Hanging out backstage with Chief Keef at Rolling Loud, man. The festival has been such a vibe. The fans was loving your set. How was it up there, man?
07:41 Always dope. It's always loud. Rolling loud.
07:46 I mean, you had Sexy Red up there, man. How did you guys start working together? It was so good.
07:50 Shit. I just know she fuck with me real heavy, I fuck with her too.
07:53 Saying she want to come through. I said, "Hell fucking yeah."
07:57 And I mean, what do you think it is about her that has made people go so crazy for Sexy Red?
08:01 She just, you can tell, she really just come from where we come from.
08:06 I feel you on that, man. And then also, you just dropped Dirty Nachos and Mike Will Made It.
08:10 [Music]
08:13 So what made y'all decide to collaborate on that project together?
08:16 That's my dog. He right there. Right here. He's on here. That's my boy.
08:20 And the fan reaction has been great. How does it feel to finally have the project out there?
08:23 I mean, it ain't even just, that ain't even when we supposed to been dropped. That's just something we, he decided, you know what I'm saying?
08:29 Like, let's just drop something before we do what we supposed to drop.
08:32 Yeah, man. Like I said, that's my man. We always together. We always working too.
08:36 And then you got Almighty Soul, like the sequel to Part II coming out, man. So tell me what the fans gonna expect from that.
08:41 Oh, shit. I've been working on that shit, man. It's actually dope, man. Got some different stuff on it.
08:47 Got some features you can tease us with a little bit?
08:49 Yeah, I got some features on there, but I just wanna, you know, keep it a surprise if they don't know already.
08:54 Okay, cool, man. And now I just wanna ask you, what's it like to tour with Chief Keef?
08:58 Shit. I like being at home, so. I mean, you know, but when I do go on tour, I mean, I'll be ready to go home.
09:05 I feel you on that. So what do you need to make you feel at home while you're out there?
09:08 What's like the items you need on your tour?
09:10 I ain't really know items. I do take like a game or something with me. I need a fan in my hotel. I gotta have a fan.
09:18 And then what's the first thing you need when you get off the stage outside of doing an interview with me? Because that's why.
09:22 A blunt.
09:24 Well, somebody get this man a blunt, man. Thank you so much.
09:26 I mean, I got hella blunts. I ain't stressing. I got too many of them bitches.
09:30 I appreciate you talking to us. Thanks for hanging out with Billboard, bro. Thanks, man.
09:34 And from concerts to festivals to music videos, we got you covered.
09:39 Yo, you already know, man. Shitboi Davies reporting live from the Delhi, Honolulu City. What's good? Josh the Billboard.
09:47 For me personally, it was super dope, proud of him to be a part of just with the whole British, whole Javi scene.
09:53 Big shout out to the whole movement, to meet Raf. And me came through with the homies and we really caught a vibe.
10:00 Catching that energy with Raf right there on the spot. I think that definitely set that record off.
10:06 The video concept for this is like, yo, this is 4 a.m. music, 4 a.m. fashion, 4 a.m. revenge.
10:16 But we come in peace. Look at me, I'm out here looking gorgeous.
10:19 For the full behind the video, head to Billboard's YouTube.
