00:00 I'd like to acknowledge and thank Maria Pagotto of 44 years of volunteering in our community,
00:08 including the St Vincent's Hospital in Lismore. Turning 97 this year, Maria has spent her
00:13 time at the hospital helping patients, staff and the chapel. First spending her time at
00:18 the hospital as a Red Cross member, Maria did hair and beauty care for rehabilitation
00:22 patients. She did this for 28 years. She transferred to the day surgery, handing out cups of tea
00:28 and sandwiches. The patients always noted their happiness for Maria's dedication in
00:34 the way she served them. Maria also spent 17 years at the aged Italian day care, keeping
00:40 patients company and looking after them. After transferring to the South Lismore Catholic
00:44 Parish Church, Maria spent 15 years here volunteering, continuing to become the Eucharistic minister
00:52 at the Saturday evening mass. Some of Maria's most cherished achievements include spending
00:57 33 years as a member of the Red Cross, receiving the Service Award in 2004 for 22 years of
01:05 valuable service and still serving as a volunteer today. I'd like to thank and acknowledge Maria
01:10 for her important contributions to the local community through her volunteering efforts.
