Lani Waller after her NSW open ironwoman win.

00:00 now, talk me through the last 30 seconds of that race.
00:03 I go into the Opens not expecting much, I just do it for experience and I went into
00:08 that and I knew if I got a big lead in the swim on the board that hopefully the ski would
00:12 give me something because I'm not the best on the ski but going into that race I didn't
00:18 have much because I just won the 19 so I was very happy with coming away with both and
00:22 yeah couldn't be happier.
00:24 What's going through your mind as you're swimming in after the ski salute, what's in your head?
00:29 I knew that wave was going to double up so I was trying to get as far out in front of
00:34 it as possible and then I started swimming and I knew I was close enough to the shore
00:38 but I didn't know how close the girls were so I'm a pretty short person, I didn't know
00:42 how deep it was either so I just got up and hoped for the best and yeah just ran away
00:48 with it.
00:49 Tell me about sitting in that line and you look down at the Who's Who of Open female
00:53 line competitors, so many big names in that list and you're at the front of that line,
00:57 how does that feel?
00:58 Yeah a lot of girls here, there's like a few more girls this year that came from the Nutri-Grain
01:04 and that's definitely one of my bigger goals for next season to get into the Nutri-Grain
01:09 with them and it's a big thing like Lizzie and Piper and Annalise, they're big inspirations
01:15 coming from New South Wales and I definitely want to be up there with them one day in the
01:20 Nutri-Grain and hopefully we can all do it together.
01:23 Yeah fantastic and just talk to me about the community of Redhead, you've been there for
01:26 a long time, how do you like it and what do you find are the key aspects of making Redhead?
01:31 Yeah so this year is my third season competing for Redhead so it's still pretty new and yeah
01:37 so there's a lot of great mentors like Boyd Conric and Adam Rowe and Pete Scott like for
01:43 ski coaching and run training and stuff and a big big like thanks to my coaches, my main
01:49 coaches Cosy and Justin like they do a lot for me and they have to put up with me all
01:54 the time 24/7 so yeah and my mum and dad they take me everywhere and my sisters in my community
02:00 at Redhead like my best friends are all of the kids from my age group in 17s and under
02:06 like it's a great community and it's very close like a big family so very lovely.
