00:00So, after experiencing some challenging conditions on Boxing Day, we've experienced some milder
00:04conditions in the subsequent days.
00:07Crews have been able to implement some more defensive strategy and start to stabilise
00:10the incident.
00:11As you can see behind me, the fire is still going and still poses a risk to some communities
00:16like Halls Gap.
00:17The smoke will be from our operational tactics, including burning out and backburning, but
00:23crews are monitoring and working on this so that we can join the fire into accessible
00:28tracks.
00:29Backburning and burning out operations so that we can bring the fire to a control line
00:33where we can safely contain the fire.
00:35Other tactics that we might use is putting in our own control lines using machinery such
00:39as bulldozers or crews doing hand lines on RACOs.
00:43What we're doing with this is removing the fuel from the fire, creating safe and accessible
00:47access so that our crews can get in and contain fire and make it safe.
00:51We have specialised crews that remove hazardous trees, particularly around roadsides, so that
00:56we can allow emergency services to access the fire ground safely.
01:00You will see aircraft in the area, they are gathering intelligence to feed back to ground
01:04crews and doing waterbombing where required.
01:06You'll continue to see this over the coming days and weeks.
01:09We'd like to express our gratitude to our peers at Forest Fire Management Victoria,
01:13as well as CFA, Fire Rescue Victoria, interstate crews that have come to help, as well as other
01:18emergency services.
01:20We'd also like to thank the communities for their kindness, patience and support as we
01:23work through the incident.
01:25This is an extended incident and we are experiencing warm conditions.
01:28We have a long summer ahead of us.
