00:00 Ditch the dog sitter, soon pet owners will fly hand in paw with their furry friends.
00:07 That means a lot, that way we can actually take our little dash hand into the carry on
00:13 with us instead of being in the under carry on and medicated.
00:17 70% of our passengers would love to take their animals with them on holidays, that is why
00:22 we're doing this.
00:23 But not every pet will be allowed to rack up the frequent flyers. No birds, hamsters
00:28 or snakes on the plane.
00:30 Passengers will only be permitted to take small dogs and cats in the cabin and they'll
00:35 need to sit under seats in approved carriers in designated rows.
00:39 So if you don't want to be near an animal it's very easy to stay clear of that part
00:44 of the aircraft.
00:45 Some say the airline is barking up the wrong tree at the expense of customers who suffer
00:49 allergies.
00:50 The designated row should be the cargo hold, they've got no place in the cabin.
00:55 Virgin has presumably calculated that the benefits are going to outweigh the risks.
01:02 Others are dog tired of treating their pets as check in baggage.
01:06 The pet is actually like a family member, so you want to see them next to you.
01:11 I think it's great, in general in Europe it's pretty common, I've seen lots of cats on the
01:16 plane.
01:16 There is a catch, the airline says that all of these planes are still subject to regulatory
01:20 approval. If it does get rubber stamped, though Virgin Australia is hoping to have the service
01:25 up and running within the next 12 months.
01:27 I've no problem with that, I think it's wonderful.
01:30 Businesses including airlines like to get some publicity, get themselves in the news,
01:35 some free advertising and we'll see the details later.
01:40 The fee for the service, alongside many other details, likely to be confirmed in the coming
01:45 months.
