Wednesday marks 40 years since the beginning of the United Kingdom miners’ strike. A walkout at Cortonwood Colliery in South Yorkshire on 6th March 1984 led to an official strike across Britain in protest against pit closures. Many miners continued to work during the year-long dispute, creating divisions within communities that exist to this day. Report by Jonesia.
