00:00We're looking really closely at market reactions and monitoring very closely the response from
00:08other countries to the US tariff regime. I think it's important that the Prime Minister
00:14continues to show that cool, calm, level-headed leadership that he's shown throughout this
00:20turbulence, making sure that we get the best possible deal with the US, but also break
00:26down barriers to trade across Europe and across the world. We're also providing support
00:31for British industry to insulate them as best we can against these tariffs and the wider
00:38global turbulence, but there's no doubt this is a challenge for us. To be honest, it's
00:42just another in the very long list of challenges we've got as a government, but we're not
00:49being down in the dumps about this and just surrendering to this idea that Britain continues
00:56further down the path of the decline we were on before the general election. We're showing
01:00leadership on the economy, on our public services and in Britain's place in the world, so that
01:07step by step we are growing our economy, we're rebuilding our public services and we are
01:12rebuilding Britain's trading relationships around the world so that we are an open global
01:16trading nation. I think what you've seen from the Prime Minister in recent days and
01:20weeks is this cool, calm, level-headed response to what is an extremely challenging situation.
01:26He's not picking up his placards and he's not picking up his mobile phone to start tweeting
01:31his reaction to every global event. What he is doing is picking up the phone, talking
01:35to industry leaders here at home, talking to international leaders and trading partners
01:41to promote open, free trade around the world, to make sure that Britain is protected as we can
01:48from the global headwinds that we're going to be subjected to. But ultimately this is
01:54a challenging period for this government and for others around the world in response to US tariffs.
