00:00 Tensions rise in the Taiwan Strait as Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence reports a significant
00:07 escalation in Chinese military activities.
00:10 In the past 24 hours, Taiwan has detected 19 Chinese military aircraft and 7 naval vessels
00:16 in its vicinity.
00:17 Alarming reports revealed that out of the 19 People's Liberation Army aircraft, a staggering
00:22 12 crossed the Taiwan Strait median line.
00:25 In response, Taiwan swiftly deployed aircraft, naval ships and air defence missile systems
00:31 to monitor and track the movements of the People's Liberation Army.
00:34 Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence issued a statement confirming the situation.
00:38 It said 19 PLA aircraft and 7 PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected with
00:45 12 of the aircraft crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait and entering Taiwan's
00:49 north, south-western and eastern eddies.
00:52 ROC armed forces have taken immediate action to monitor the situation.
00:57 This marks the latest in a series of provocations as Taiwan has already reported 253 instances
01:02 of Chinese military aircraft and 150 naval ship detections in February alone.
01:07 Experts believe that China's increased use of grey zone tactics defined as efforts to
01:12 achieve security objectives without restoring to direct and sizeable use of force has escalated
01:17 tensions in the region.
01:19 The concerns are further highlighted by Admiral Samuel Paparo, the US nominee to lead US Indo-Pacific
01:24 Command.
01:25 Speaking at a conference in Silicon Valley, Admiral Paparo warned that China might soon
01:30 possess the capability to use military exercises as a cover for a potential invasion of Taiwan.
01:35 Admiral Paparo stated, and I quote, "Despite economic and demographic challenges, China
01:40 is undaunted in its ambitions, which include not only the world, the West Pacific and the
01:44 South China Sea, but more acutely, Taiwan."
01:48 He emphasized that People's Liberation Army has undergone significant changes in force
01:52 levels and joint capabilities, posing a heightened threat.
01:56 The admiral expressed concerns about the erosion of strategic warning signs, stating that it
02:00 could hinder the US military's ability to support allies and partners and respond effectively
02:05 in case China decides to use force.
02:08 The situation in the Taiwan Strait remains tense, and the international community is
02:12 closely monitoring developments as the geopolitical landscape in the region continues to evolve.
