00:00 The Department of Agriculture is investigating the allegation that the National Food Authority sold rice to some traders that were lost by the government.

00:08 The government said that some NFA officials authorized the sale of rice in the warehouse of 25 pesos per kilo without bidding.

00:19 The rice was bought for 23 pesos per kilo.

00:24 Agriculture Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr. said that the highest punishment should be forgiven to those who are in the same situation as the farmers, fishermen, and consumers.

00:36 According to the NFA, they are mandated to preserve and dispose of 99.9% of their rice stocks in good condition.

00:45 They are held responsible for their disposal of the rice.
