The Laird of McGillicuddy (1913) | Лэрд Макгилликадди | Colorized Version
Ruth, a delightful young co-ed, decides to end her engagement with William Mason, expressing her desire for a husband with a title and fortune. Mason, looking disheartened, retreats to his room at the fraternity house. His friends, including "Cal" Bobbins, Wash Bryant, and Sid Bathbum, notice his discontent and inquire about the reason behind it. Mason shares the situation, and "Cal," spotting the milkman outside, signals him to come up. Mason leaves the room.
Upon arriving, the milkman is convinced and persuaded to attend the evening's ball as the Laird of McGillicuddy, thanks to some friendly persuasion and bribery from Mason's friends. The editor of the college paper is informed of the Laird's presence at the ball. Ruth, accompanied by her girlfriends, reads about the Laird's attendance in the paper and eagerly prepares for the festivities.
That night, "Skinny," the milkman, dons the attire of a Scottish Highland nobleman and is introduced to the ladies at the ball. However, his awkward dancing and general clumsiness embarrass Ruth. During a dance, Ruth's dress tears, but Mason, upon discovering the mishap, gallantly pins it up for her. Impressed by his chivalry, Ruth smiles at Mason.
As the clock strikes twelve, the Laird of McGillicuddy reveals his true identity, transforming back into "Skinny" the milkman by removing his false beard. He humorously mentions that it's time for him to resume his milk route. Having grown disillusioned with titles, Ruth agrees to become Mason's bride, enchanted by his genuine character.
