00:00 Hi, I'm Jack Broughton. I'm from the Board of Directors at Bayside Women's Shelter.
00:05 Bayside Women's Shelter is a crisis refuge for women and children fleeing domestic and family violence.
00:18 We offer accommodation and support for those in need.
00:24 We've got highly trained staff members that welcome families into our accommodation.
00:30 We also offer aid through financial, medical and legal services.
00:35 I joined the Board about two years ago. I've joined a very diverse and very experienced Board.
00:44 I come into the organisation with a background in IT to help increase the capabilities of our support network.
00:54 And that's what I bring to the table.
00:57 We work hand in hand with local MPs, Bayside Council and our local community.
01:05 We've got strong ties through our Board to the local community
01:10 and a lot of that is funnelled through local MPs and local leadership within the community.
01:16 It's integral to our funding model. The community and its support makes up a good amount of our donations.
01:25 And that is what really brings to life the support that we can offer women and children in our area.
01:34 So we rely heavily on donations. For anybody out in the community that wants to know where and how to donate,
01:41 you can reference our website. It will give you a good directory on how, what and where to donate.
01:47 We accept everything from financial aid that goes directly to supporting some of the services we offer.
01:56 But we also rely on donations of clothing, toiletries and non-perishable goods that can be dropped off at your local Parliament members' offices.
02:07 Coming into Christmas, it's as important as ever.
02:10 We are running a donation drive for members of the community to purchase gift cards
02:17 that will go directly to the family members that we're supporting through this special time.
