00:00 - Credit to coach and Iowa and his team.
00:05 They were ready to play today and created a lot of confidence
00:08 for themselves with their first half.
00:10 And really, they got off, they had great urgency early
00:14 in the game and even though we were playing from behind there,
00:19 we had a great fight, cut it to two, didn't go our way,
00:21 and just fouled a lot today.
00:23 Put a Big Ten shooting team on the line 37 times.
00:27 It's going to put you in a tough spot.
00:28 So, disappointed.
00:30 It was this late in the year when you're playing for stuff
00:34 and you want to just keep battling.
00:37 But credit to Iowa.
00:38 They played a very good game today.
00:41 - Questions for Coach?
00:42 - Peyton Sanford missed the line 19 times.
00:49 Did he do a good job getting fouled?
00:50 - Well, I think he shot a bunch late, too.
00:53 But yeah, yeah, I think we fouled him.
00:55 We fouled him twice on three-pointers, maybe.
00:58 I know one for sure.
00:59 - A couple of technicals, too.
01:00 - Technicals, yeah.
01:01 So, you get a good shooter.
01:03 You know, that's on me in the first half.
01:04 And just, you know, good shooter is going to make him 18 for 19.
01:07 We sure didn't shoot well from the line today.
01:09 So, yeah, he, but you know, he's a threat wherever he's at on
01:13 the court and puts pressure on you no matter what.
01:17 And you put him on the foul line, he's going to make them all.
01:20 - Coach, you know basketball in Iowa.
01:23 Peyton had the first triple-double in school history tonight.
01:26 - He did? - Yeah.
01:27 I guess, thoughts?
01:29 - B.J. Armstrong never had a triple-double.
01:33 - Either the Murray brothers, Lucas Garza.
01:35 - Wow, that's crazy.
01:36 Good for him. Congratulations.
01:37 I wish it wasn't against us.
01:40 But good for him.
01:42 - I see you guys continued to kind of cut to that four.
01:44 I think you got down to three one time.
01:46 - That was a two. - Yeah.
01:47 - That was a two, and he's got a technical.
01:49 And, yeah, you just can't do that.
01:53 It's hard enough, you know, where it was where I thought we
01:56 were at a disadvantage a lot of times with putting them in a foul
01:59 line a lot of calls.
02:00 So you just you just got to hang in there, you know, and just
02:04 like we did against Illinois and kind of we didn't play well.
02:07 We were I think it was 17.
02:09 We cut it to two.
02:09 I think we cut it to two.
02:12 It's got to have great discipline, but you know, it's a long year.
02:15 You get frustrated.
02:16 You get frustrated with how different games are.
02:19 Just got to find a way to get through it.
02:20 And sometimes your emotions because you put so much into it gets the best of you.
02:25 And, you know, we just we didn't get things go our way.
02:31 And then, man, you know, you cut it to two.
02:33 You got to stick around, hang around on the road.
02:35 And we just didn't do that.
02:36 But credit to Iowa.
02:37 They played great down the stretch there.
02:39 - They had eight assists on all but one field goal in the first half.
02:42 When the team's moving the ball like that, how hard is that to defend?
02:46 - Well, when you shoot it as well as Iowa does, yeah.
02:48 And, you know, you guys have been around long enough.
02:51 No matter who Iowa's playing, that's how they play.
02:54 No matter what defense they're playing, that's how they play.
02:56 And, you know, I think our lack of discipline on defense in the first half,
03:02 unlike when we played them at our place earlier in the year, we didn't take them
03:06 out of stuff.
03:07 And they got a rhythm going and Dick's got going, you know, and Peyton's always a
03:11 threat.
03:12 Other guys and the two post players are good one-on-one players.
03:17 So you could start spacing the defense out and they go to work.
03:21 So they have weapons.
03:23 And today they were flowing and the ball gets moving, harder and harder to guard.
03:27 And that's how, then you get frustrated and then you start fouling and put a
03:30 really good free throw shooting team on the line.
03:33 You know, they made 32 free throws.
03:36 - Are you feeling like they're better than what you saw when they came to your place?
03:43 - Yeah, I mean, I have such great respect for coach.
03:45 I mean, they're good no matter when.
03:47 I thought they were pretty good then.
03:49 I thought we played a really good game that night.
03:53 Yeah, I mean, I think late in the year there's a little more urgency from teams,
03:56 right?
03:56 People know what they're playing for.
03:58 I thought they had that the other day.
04:01 They had that today.
04:02 But I think they've, you know, one thing I'm learning, this is my first year, you
04:06 guys have been around longer than me.
04:08 It's like this in this league.
04:09 You might play well and the next day, the next game you get beat by 20 and everyone
04:13 thinks you stink.
04:15 You just got to hang in there.
04:18 You got to just get ready for the next one.
04:20 And you guys are going to write what you want, but like the other team wants to win
04:24 too.
04:25 That's how it goes.
04:26 And today they had more urgency than us.
04:29 We got to find a way to have more urgency than our opponent on Saturday.
04:33 - Thank you, coach.
04:33 - Thank you.
04:34 - Appreciate it.
04:35 Thank you.
04:36 Thank you.
