Opposition MPs stage walkout over 'due process', Pendang rep suspended
Opposition MPs staged a walkout at the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Feb 27), claiming that the process in which Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was allowed to present a motion of gratitude to the former Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Mustafa Billah Shah while welcoming His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, did not follow due process.
Describing the situation as “out of the ordinary”, Perikatan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin later in a press conference questioned how such a scenario was possible.

00:00 I have made a decision to allow YM to issue a statement of the Minister's statement.
00:10 This is quite extraordinary because the intention to pay tribute to the late Mdm. Padukul and Mdm. Agong has been supported.
00:22 Therefore, what happened today is considered quite extraordinary.
00:28 It should be continued.
00:32 So, how come there is a slot in the middle, which is quite extraordinary.
00:38 We consider this as a tyranny of the majority.
00:44 Only because in this parliament, they have a majority, they can do whatever they like,
00:49 without following the usual rules that have been implemented all this time.
00:54 What I have raised earlier is something to explain to the government.
01:02 Do not use the power of the majority to do whatever you like.
01:11 If we listen to the King's order, saying that we must follow the rules, follow the procedures,
01:20 then we should wait for the time for YM to speak.
01:28 If he wants to do it for 2-3 hours, one day, we can listen to him.
01:36 But when he does something outside the rules of the parliament,
01:42 we feel that this is a misuse of power.
01:49 Therefore, we do not agree.
01:52 Because the people out there think that the opposition only let the government do what it wants.
02:01 Today, we want to prove that everything they do does not follow the rules,
02:08 we will oppose.
02:10 We will determine that everything the government does is in accordance with the laws and regulations.
02:20 Can you continue, Dato Taki?
02:22 As an explanation, in this parliament, there is a rule called the Ministerial Declaration.
02:32 According to the rules of the Parliament, the Ministerial Declaration must be included in the agenda,
02:41 which is called the AUM.
02:44 But today, the Ministerial Declaration is not included.
02:49 And it is very strange.
02:53 As mentioned by YM,
02:56 from 12 o'clock, YM Syah Alam, representing the government,
03:01 brought a proposal to the Ministerial Declaration.
03:06 It is not finished yet.
03:07 Stop at 1 o'clock, continue at 2.30 o'clock.
03:10 Continue.
03:12 And after that, the proposal will be supported by YM Batang Sadung from the government.
03:18 We can accept it. No problem.
03:21 And then, it will be supported by the head of the backbencher, YM Payoh Besar.
03:26 No problem, according to the rules.
03:28 Suddenly, at 2.30 o'clock, the Ministerial Declaration is included.
03:32 We understand that we want to thank the former president,
03:36 and welcome the new president,
03:40 which can be done on the third week,
03:43 which is the ministerial responsibility and his group.
03:46 YM, that is the rules.
03:48 We want it to be in accordance with the rules.
03:50 If it is not, we have to correct it.
03:53 Yesterday, the Ministerial Declaration stated that as a lawyer,
03:57 you have to follow the rules.
03:59 You are the government and the backbencher.
04:02 That is the situation.
04:04 It is clear.
04:05 Okay.
04:07 The end.
04:10 (Applause)
