00:00 Well, just looking at Everton, they've had their points deduction changed from 10 points
00:06 to now 6 after their appeal. What's the latest you can tell us and how much of a difference
00:11 does that make? Obviously, there is still that background second alleged charge pending
00:16 for them as well.
00:17 Yeah, it's big for Everton. I think fans have been starting to get a little bit restless,
00:22 to be honest with you, and you can't blame them. I mean, I was looking at it thinking,
00:26 if Everton didn't have a case, then surely the appeal board would just come out straight
00:32 away and say, "Right, no, that's done," and it was just quashed straight away. So the
00:36 longer it went on, you're probably looking and thinking, "Maybe Everton have got a case
00:40 here," and the club have come out and said they're satisfied. I think the club know that
00:46 some mistakes have been made. But largely, it comes down to two aspects that were upheld
00:55 in the appeal. One was which, as everyone were adamant, was the building of the stadium,
01:00 the debt that they've incurred on that, and they considered they are funding it themselves.
01:06 So the debt incurred on that was one, and the other one was there was no real guidelines
01:10 for breaking profits and sustainability rules laid out by the Premier League. Unlike the
01:17 AFL, I think it's quite clear, the AFL, if you do X, Y, or Z, then you'll be hit with
01:23 this punishment and there wasn't anything from the Premier League. So as you say, now
01:27 looking at that second charge that's overhanging them that's going to go to an independent
01:33 commission, maybe look at it two ways. Because the overlap, is there going to be a double
01:42 jeopardy? Will Everton be punished twice? Or does that mean that if, because it's over
01:49 three years, does it mean that two thirds of Everton, basically what they've been punished
01:54 with, will be hit with this time over? You get what I mean? So four points effectively?
02:01 Or is the stadium argument pretty much there to say, look, we're building the stadium,
02:07 it's regenerating massive parts of Liverpool. Obviously, you know, the world couldn't have
02:15 affected the war in Ukraine and that affected Everton because of the dealings they had with
02:20 the USN, Uspinov's business and costs have rised rapidly, haven't they? During that time,
02:27 everyone sees the bills and material prices, etc. have gone up. So do Everton have an argument
02:34 in that? But certainly, you know, they'll be looking at this, the legal team will be
02:39 looking at what's come out of the appeal here and they'll be getting their argument right.
02:47 As you say, five points now above the relegation zone, which is massive, takes them up to 15th
02:53 in the table, five points clear of the drop zone. It's good psychologically as well for
02:58 the players because I think Sean Dyche said that it is starting to get to the players
03:03 a little bit, not knowing, at least there's more clarity now on Everton, know that, you
03:07 know, they don't have to say, "Play off, we have to go for a win or we have to go for
03:14 a point or whatever." You know, they have a better understanding of what the task is
03:20 ahead now if they are going to stay in the Premier League.
