00:00 Domestic abuse used to be called domestic violence,
00:03 and people still to this day think,
00:04 well, if I'm not being hit, then I'm not
00:06 a victim of domestic abuse.
00:07 We still, at Refuge, get calls to the National Domestic Abuse
00:10 Helpline, where people say, I don't
00:12 think I'm a victim of abuse, but can I just talk to you?
00:14 And they paint this horrific story of what they're enduring.
00:18 Jo was never subject to violence.
00:20 He threatened her with a knife once, but other than that,
00:22 it was all coercive and controlling behaviour.
00:25 And they'd been three years post-separation.
00:27 So her case is a really important one for people
00:30 to see, to understand the nuances of domestic abuse,
00:33 and that actually non-violent domestic abuse can often
00:36 be the most dangerous.
00:38 So that anyone who sees it and resonates with anything
00:41 that they see, please, please reach out.
00:43 You say the most dangerous in the sense,
00:45 as well, that it's a red flag.
00:46 Absolutely massive red flag.
