00:00 "Come to the meeting, and if you want to leave, then fine."
00:02 "No.
00:03 It's Christmas Day.
00:04 We're the family now.
00:05 We're staying at home!"
00:08 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at instances where TV characters got whacked.
00:12 In addition to the mob, we're including cartels and crime families as long as a successful
00:16 hit is executed.
00:17 We're telling you up front that this list is nothing but spoilers, so don't shoot
00:21 the messenger.
00:23 "Will?"
00:25 10.
00:29 Nick Augustine – Justified
00:30 When Theo Tonin makes his son Sammy the head of the crime family, underling Nick Augustine
00:34 plots to take out the new boss and assume control.
00:37 "Look, we're just waiting for the plane.
00:39 We'll be back in Detroit before breakfast, and I'll take care of it when I get back
00:42 there."
00:43 The overly ambitious criminal underestimates two people, however.
00:46 First there's Raylan Givens, who's willing to turn a blind eye as long as justice is
00:49 served.
00:50 Since Givens is a lawman, though, he gives Augustine one last chance to exit without
00:54 spilling any blood.
00:55 "I pulled a bread off the big fella.
00:56 What are you carrying?"
00:57 "Oh, I don't have a gun."
00:59 "Maybe you should get one."
01:01 "Why?
01:02 So you can have a reason?"
01:03 "You already gave me a reason."
01:04 Augustine not only turns Givens' offer down flat, but he threatens his family.
01:08 "But I'll be back for your family.
01:11 You had a chance to save them this morning, but instead, you took out three of my guys."
01:15 He also makes the mistake of underestimating Sammy, who learns of Augustine's planned
01:18 coup via Givens.
01:19 We don't even see Augustine as his limos riddled with bullets, emphasizing that although
01:23 he talked big, he was never truly boss material.
01:27 9.
01:31 Pete "The Rock" Invernizzi, Tulsa King
01:33 When we're introduced to Pete Invernizzi, his best years are behind him.
01:37 But that doesn't mean he'll be stepping down as head of the family any time soon.
01:40 Death isn't coming quickly enough, either.
01:42 Despite his declining health, next in line is his son Charles, or "Chicky," who has
01:46 grown increasingly frustrated with the Don's decisions as of late, namely keeping Dwight
01:50 Manfredi alive.
01:51 "One day, you're gonna be boss of this family."
01:55 Confronting his dad in the bath, Chicky concludes that if he's going to get Dwight out of
01:58 the way, his father must meet an unfortunate accident first.
02:04 Although Chicky has always been scum, drowning his own father goes to show that there's
02:07 no line he won't cross in pursuit of power and vengeance.
02:10 All bets are off, and so is Chicky's toupee.
02:17 8.
02:20 Floyd Gerhart, Fargo With her husband unable to fulfill his duties
02:24 following a stroke, matriarch Floyd takes over the Gerhart family.
02:28 Floyd is no stranger to loss, but the tail end of her life brings the most misfortune.
02:38 Her family and everything they've built ultimately collapse at the hands of a few
02:41 unexpected sources.
02:42 In one final twist, Floyd finds that she's been betrayed by her eldest son's enforcer,
02:47 Hansie Dent.
02:48 In what seems like a rescue mission, the silent but deadly hitman sends what remains of the
02:52 Gerhart syndicate to their doom.
02:54 As Floyd realizes that they've been led into an ambush, Hansie cuts the head off of
02:58 the snake.
03:02 Even if Floyd had survived this inside job, there'd be little left of her family's
03:05 dynasty to preserve.
03:08 7.
03:11 Ruth Langmore, Ozark Despite their differences, Marty Byrd comes
03:15 to view Ruth as more than a business partner.
03:17 By the series finale, she's like a surrogate daughter to him.
03:20 This makes it all the more tragic when Ruth is thrown under the bus.
03:31 Nivero cartel head Camilo Elizontro learns that the reckless Ruth was responsible for
03:36 the death of her son, although she remains clueless about the Byrds' involvement.
03:39 Not seeing a future where they'll all survive, Marty and Wendy stay silent as Ruth drives
03:43 to her inevitable downfall.
03:55 Strong-willed till the end, Ruth accepts her fate without begging for mercy or implicating
03:59 the Byrds.
04:00 It was a controversial exit for a fan-favorite character, but one that left us speechless
04:05 all the same.
04:09 6.
04:12 John Shelby, Peaky Blinders In addition to World War I, John Shelby made
04:16 it through three brutal series of this British crime drama.
04:20 The fourth series commences with a black hand spelling the beginning of the end for John.
04:30 We didn't expect his end to come so quickly, though.
04:32 On Christmas Day, brother Michael encourages John and his family to seek refuge at the
04:36 Peaky Blinders' base.
04:38 Patriarch Esme is reluctant to leave, convinced that they can take care of themselves.
04:45 She's immediately proven wrong, as the Ciangreta family pays a visit.
04:52 Outnumbered in a drive-by shooting, John and Michael are riddled with bullets.
04:55 While Michael lives to fight another day, John makes his last stand on the countryside
04:59 estate that promised him and his family a fresh start.
05:16 5.
05:19 Ben Uric, Daredevil Wilson Fisk isn't lacking in enforcers,
05:23 but he's not afraid to get his own hands dirty.
05:25 If anything, he revels in the opportunity to put people in their place, especially when
05:29 it's personal.
05:30 Upon being fired from the New York Bulletin, Ben Uric's day goes from bad to fatal.
05:34 Still determined to expose Fisk, Uric suddenly comes face to face with the rising kingpin.
05:46 While Fisk isn't thrilled about the story, he might have let it slide if only Uric hadn't
05:50 enlisted his mother as a source.
05:52 As Fisk wraps his hulking hands around Uric's throat, it becomes clear that he didn't
05:55 drop by to make threats.
06:01 Uric's death finds Fisk at his most unpredictable and unhinged, reminding us that nobody's
06:11 safe from him.
06:17 4.
06:21 Tortuga, Breaking Bad Working as a cartel informant can be deadly,
06:24 especially if you're played by Danny Trejo.
06:27 Despite his brief screen time, Tortuga is among Trejo's most memorable characters
06:30 thanks in part to his bonkers demise.
06:33 It's a slow day for the DEA until a tortoise of all animals escalates matters.
06:46 The tortoise isn't alone, carrying Tortuga's head atop its shell.
06:49 Fitting, seeing how Tortuga is Spanish for tortoise.
06:52 Although the other agents laugh at Hank for running away, he had the right idea with the
06:55 tortoise bringing one more surprise.
07:02 We later see how the cartel did Tortuga in via flashback.
07:05 What's the only thing more poetic than putting Tortuga's head on a tortoise?
07:08 Taking out a Danny Trejo character with a machete.
07:15 3.
07:17 Cristobal Cifuentes, Barry When we were first introduced to NoHo Hank,
07:21 we didn't expect him to ever make us cry.
07:24 As Barry progresses, Hank's star-crossed romance with Bolivian mob leader Cristobal
07:28 becomes one of his dark comedy's few bright spots.
07:31 After overcoming so much together, a happy ending appears to be in grasp for the couple.
07:41 After Hank is pulled back into the Chechen mob, though, Cristobal decided that he can't
07:45 follow him down this path.
07:54 As Cristobal walks out on Hank, we all know in the pit of our stomachs what's coming.
07:58 We're given a fleeting glimmer of hope when the door opens.
08:01 Alas, it isn't Cristobal returning to his love.
08:04 Instead, a hitman escorts Hank outside where his worst fear is realized.
08:11 2.
08:12 Jimmy Darmody, Boardwalk Empire From the first episode, the dynamic between
08:17 bootlegging politician Nucky Thompson and protege Jimmy Darmody is among the driving
08:21 forces behind this Prohibition period drama.
08:30 Imagine our surprise when the second season ended with a final confrontation between the
08:34 two main characters.
08:35 After trying to have Nucky assassinated, Jimmy shows up to a meeting knowing full well that
08:39 it's a trap.
08:40 Jimmy appears ready to die with dignity, but the conflicted look in Nucky's eyes
08:43 suggests that his paternal feelings may prevail.
08:51 No such luck as Nucky pulls the trigger twice.
08:54 Jimmy's death drastically changed the course of the series, for better or worse.
08:58 Whatever your thought of the following seasons, few TV deaths have been so shocking yet so
09:02 inevitable.

09:25 Adriana La Cerba, The Sopranos Honestly, this countdown could have been solely
09:28 comprised of Sopranos characters.
09:30 Since we like to mix things up, though, we're singling out the hit that hurt the most.
09:34 Although we root for Tony, it's impossible not to empathize with Adriana.
09:38 Falling in love with Christopher only to get roped in as an FBI mole, Adriana finds herself
09:42 trapped in an impossible situation.
09:44 With the walls closing in, Adriana finally confesses to Christopher, who turns to Tony.
09:54 When Silvio picks up Adriana, we know that he isn't taking her to the hospital as promised.
10:06 Blinded by her love for Christopher, Adriana can't bring herself to accept the truth
10:10 until Silvio drives them into the woods where she makes an unsuccessful plea for her life.
