Crawley Town boss Scott Lindsey after his side beat AFC Wimbledon 1-0

00:00 Scott, we're here, just beating IC Wimbledon 1-0. How do you feel after that performance?
00:05 Delighted, obviously. I thought we were outstanding in the second half. I thought that it was a difficult game.
00:12 Certainly in the first half, they put a lot of balls forward.
00:15 We got a little more pressure on the ball. We changed at half-time and kind of changed the way we pressed.
00:22 And we got a little bit more pressure on the ball in the second half, which allowed them to kick their kind of direct balls from a deeper position,
00:29 which made it easier for us to defend against. In the first half,
00:33 we were kind of allowing them to come to the halfway line and sticking balls on us.
00:37 Because we had what we call a plus one at the back with Dion,
00:40 we felt that we could cope with that, but it was apparent that we were struggling with it.
00:45 They're big boys at the top of the pitch. They're strong.
00:49 So we wanted to put a bit more pressure on the ball higher up the pitch.
00:51 We did it in the second half and it kind of limited them to...
00:56 Obviously, they still stuck balls forward, but it limited them to kind of sticking balls forward.
01:00 When we had to defend the edge of the box, we were higher up the pitch.
01:03 And I thought we controlled that second half with the ball.
01:06 I thought we were outstanding with the ball and some brilliant performances tonight.
01:10 So, really, really pleased. Did you feel that the goal was going to come though?
01:13 Because it seemed as though there was a time where it was like, 'Is something going to happen?'
01:16 Yes, our xG would have been reasonably low tonight,
01:19 but I did feel that we would get chances.
01:22 I felt that Lola said a couple of flashes, didn't he?
01:25 On the edge of the box and could he have shot on one occasion maybe?
01:30 I always felt that we could score tonight for sure.
01:34 It wasn't a game of loads of chances for us,
01:39 but I did feel because we were dominant with the ball,
01:42 I did feel that we would create something that would win us a game.
01:46 And that's two wins on the trot, two clean sheets on the trot. How pleasing is that?
01:49 Very. The biggest thing for me, from a coaching point of view, is the clean sheet.
01:54 Obviously the win, but the clean sheet is something that I talk about nearly every second of every day at the training ground.
02:05 About being better defensively and spotting danger and tracking and blocking and stopping
02:11 and doing all the horrible things of football.
02:15 We've got to do better and I thought we did it brilliantly tonight.
02:17 Yeah. And Corey spoke to us after the game on Saturday about momentum and how important Saturday's win was.
02:23 Two wins on the trot and the momentum going forward is fantastic.
02:26 Yes, listen, we're in a good place now, you know, from kind of losing a number of games on a bounce.
02:32 We've now gone, you know, two wins and a draw before that.
02:36 So, we're really pleased with the last three games, obviously.
02:39 So, yes, we're delighted, but we know that there's still a long way to go.
02:44 Just a quick mention for those fans, they were amazing.
02:47 Wow, brilliant, mate. Honestly, it was unbelievable at the end.
02:51 Great, great scenes at the end.
02:53 You know, it reminded me of last year, you know, obviously it was a big win for us here last year and we've done it again.
02:59 So, no, the fans were class.
03:00 They were from minute one, from when I walked out, before minute one, when I walked out, before the kick-off,
03:05 I went over and applauded them and they're brilliant.
03:07 They're so good. So good.
03:09 Thanks, Scott. Thank you.
