00:05 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at performers who expressed reservations looking back at their nude scenes.
00:11 "I'm so sorry, Ruben." "No, thanks. Thanks, Sandy."
00:15 Number 10 - Jessica Brown Finley, Albatross
00:19 This English actress broke out as Lady Sybil Crawley on Downton Abbey before making her feature debut in 2011's Albatross.
00:27 Being her first film, Brown wasn't sure if she would make objections.
00:30 She thus went along with the topless scene, not realizing that she could say no.
00:34 "No. Are you 18?" "Yes. Can you prove it?"
00:37 At the time, Brown thought she was going to be shot from behind, feeling naive in retrospect.
00:42 Brown would bear all again the following year in Labyrinth, feeling more comfortable on that show's set.
00:49 Discussing nude scenes in 2013, though, Brown stated,
00:52 "It's not something I would do again." While Brown has since taken her clothes off in shows like Harlots and Brave New World,
00:57 her first experience with on-screen nudity isn't without some qualms.
01:00 "You must try this." "Oh. Be on the way back."
01:03 Number 9 - Emily Blunt, My Summer of Love
01:06 My Summer of Love introduced Emily Blunt to cinema with her mainstream breakthrough just around the corner.
01:11 "That was The Swan by Sam Sons."
01:13 Discussing her early career about 12 years later, Blunt said there are some things she did at age 22 that she wouldn't do now,
01:19 namely in the skin department.
01:21 Blunt told The Telegraph that she's not so keen on doing nudity, feeling that it wasn't necessary most of the time.
01:26 This was reflected a year earlier when Blunt starred in Sicario, the crime thriller originally called for Blunt to strip down again.
01:36 Blunt protested against this, bluntly saying that her tits didn't agree with it.
01:40 Co-star Benicio Del Toro agreed that nudity wasn't essential to the scene, and director Denis Villeneuve honored Blunt's wishes.
01:46 "I'm good." "You sure?" "I'm good."
01:49 Number 8 - Natalie Portman, Goya's Ghosts and Hotel Chevalier
01:53 During her mid-twenties, Natalie Portman appeared in back-to-back projects that required nudity,
01:58 the period drama Goya's Ghosts and the Wes Anderson short film Hotel Chevalier.
02:02 For Portman, being naked wasn't so much the problem, her issue was how the public responded to the nudity.
02:12 With Goya's Ghosts, Portman felt the nudity was meant to be a dramatic scene and part of a story,
02:17 so when screenshots of her wound up on adult websites, she couldn't help but feel angry,
02:21 although she realized this was probably inevitable.
02:23 As for Hotel Chevalier, Portman was depressed that half of the reviews focused on the nudity.
02:30 Regret might not be the exact word that Portman would use, but these experiences drove her to forego graphic nudity moving forward.
02:36 "Whatever happens in the end, I don't want to lose you as my friend."
02:39 "I promise."
02:43 Number 7 - Ben Stiller, Along Came Polly
02:46 "So you ready?"
02:47 "Let's do it."
02:49 Through his relationship with the eccentric Polly, Ben Stiller's tightly wound Ruben finally feels comfortable cutting a little loose.
02:55 So comfortable, that this rom-com ends with the happy couple walking into the sunset,
02:59 with Ruben presenting his rear end to the world.
03:02 Heading out of the theater, some wondered if Stiller used a body double.
03:10 He didn't, although Stiller didn't even realize that was an option upon filming.
03:13 According to Stiller, no one had bothered to tell him about the alternative.
03:17 Stiller and director John Hamburg agreed that the scene would be cut if it didn't get a laugh.
03:21 Apparently it did, but if Stiller could go back in time,
03:23 chances are he'd tell his younger self about the services body doubles can provide.
03:27 "There's not a doubt in my mind, okay?"
03:30 Number 6 - Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, 50 Shades Franchise
03:34 Johnson and Dornan may be grateful for how the 50 Shades trilogy helped elevate their careers,
03:39 but that doesn't mean they look back at the franchise with the fondest memories.
03:43 "You're a sadist?"
03:45 "I'm a dominant."
03:46 "What does that mean?"
03:47 While Dornan refused to go full frontal, he still had to shed some skin.
03:51 It wasn't the most pleasant experience,
03:53 although Dornan confessed that he felt awkward and exposed whenever he was in any way naked.
03:57 "Christian, this is way too much."
03:59 "Did you just roll your eyes at me?"
04:01 Johnson had an even more revealing role as Anastasia Steele.
04:04 Despite having a self-aware sense of humor about showing it all,
04:06 Johnson acknowledged that the satisfaction on screen didn't reflect the atmosphere on set.
04:10 Rather, Johnson said, it was just sweaty and not very comfortable.
04:14 As for what Johnson's parents think, they still haven't seen the films.
04:17 "It was difficult to handle sometimes, and then to, you know, to get through it and do film one and then return."
04:25 Number 5 - Mary Louise Parker, Weeds
04:28 Prior to playing Nancy Botwin, Mary Louise Parker had accepted other risqué roles in
04:32 Grand Canyon, The Five Senses, and Angels in America, among others.
04:36 As Nancy, Parker would take it off on more than one occasion.
04:39 A particular scene rubbed her the wrong way, however.
04:41 "Go away, Andy."
04:44 Toward the end of Weeds season 4, Nancy soaks in a bathtub while confiding in Andy.
04:48 Parker argued that nudity wasn't mandatory for this moment, dreading how the internet would respond.
04:53 "Are you going to jail?"
04:54 "No, I'm not going to jail."
04:57 Director Craig Zisk and co-executive producer Roberto Benabib disagreed,
05:01 feeling it emphasized the character's vulnerability at this point.
05:04 Parker ultimately went through with the scene, but walked away feeling bitter.
05:07 She didn't feel any better with time, saying, "I wish I hadn't done that. I was goaded into it."
05:11 "At some point recently, everything became right or wrong."
05:14 Number 4 - Helen Mirren, Varius
05:17 Ever since starring in 1969's Age of Consent, nudity has been a prominent staple of Helen Mirren's illustrious filmography.
05:24 From Caligula in 1979, to Hussie in 1980, to The Passion of Ayn Rand in 1999, to Calendar Girls in 2003,
05:31 to Love Ranch in 2010, really has a decade gone by without seeing Mirren naked on screen at least once.
05:36 "Pleasure's all mine."
05:38 As such, one would assume that Mirren has no issues with being unclad.
05:41 On the contrary, Mirren has expressed her hatred of nudity on multiple occasions,
05:45 saying that almost every intimate scene made her feel incredibly embarrassed and awkward.
05:49 She singled out Caligula as an exception, because everyone was naked in that.
05:53 As of 2015, Mirren has retired from being naked in film.
05:56 "I became the one who encouraged everyone else, saying, 'Don't worry, it's fine. It's not as bad as you think it's going to be.'"
06:02 Number 3 - Sharon Stone, Basic Instinct
06:05 Ironically, Sharon Stone's most iconic scene is the one that ignited the most hostility.
06:09 You know the one we're talking about.
06:11 "I've always had a fondness for white silk scarves. They're good for all occasions."
06:15 Compared to some other moments in this erotic thriller, Stone's leg crossing arguably isn't that graphic.
06:21 It was how this scene came to fruition that infuriated Stone.
06:24 Director Paul Verhoeven allegedly asked Stone to remove her white underwear, claiming it was causing a lighting problem.
06:29 Stone didn't realize until a test screening that her crotch had been captured on film.
06:33 Feeling that Verhoeven had tricked her, Stone slapped him before storming out.
06:36 "I'm not stupid."
06:38 Stone eventually came to accept the scene and Verhoeven's decision.
06:41 When Stone lost custody of her son in 2004, though, she felt the judge was being biased because of racy scenes like this.
06:46 "The answer's no. I didn't kill him."
06:50 Number 2 - Kate Winslet, Titanic
06:53 Kate Winslet is another actress who is disrobed for the sake of art time after time.
06:57 The Oscar winner is generally comfortable with nudity.
06:59 That is, except for one infamous scene.
07:01 "Jack, I want you to draw me like one of your French girls."
07:04 Winslet felt that she had something to prove when she was cast in Titanic at age 20.
07:08 Years later, Winslet wishes that she had shown less flesh as Rose.
07:11 "Just relax your face."
07:13 "Sorry."
07:14 "No laughing."
07:15 Winslet is especially uneasy when fans present her with nude images of Rose, asking for her signature.
07:20 She's all for autographs, but Winslet draws the line at signing that.
07:23 If Titanic wasn't such a phenomenon, Winslet would probably view this as another nude scene,
07:27 since it might be the most widely seen instance of nudity in cinematic history, though,
07:31 we imagine there'd be some baggage.
07:33 "It was the most erotic moment of my life."

07:53 Number 1 - Maria Schneider - Last Tango in Paris
07:57 At age 19, this French actress landed a leading role opposite Marlon Brando in an erotic drama from director Bernardo Bertolucci.
08:04 "No, no, I don't want to know your name. You don't have a name and I don't have a name either."
08:10 While Maria Schneider had no misgivings about nudity going into the picture,
08:13 she'd soon swear off ever working naked again.
08:16 This is partly due to a controversial scene where Brando's character assaults Schneider's.
08:20 "Don't open it."
08:21 "Why not?"
08:22 "I don't know. Don't open it."
08:24 The moment was sprung upon Schneider shortly before filming, leaving her feeling humiliated and crying real tears.
08:30 The shoot took a toll on Schneider's mental health, nearly driving her to end her life multiple times.
08:34 Outside of the trauma, Schneider felt Last Tango in Paris turned her into a sex symbol when she wanted to be taken seriously.
08:40 Thus, Schneider's breakthrough role would also mark a few lasts.
08:44 "It's over. It's over."
08:47 Do you look back at any of these nude scenes differently? Let us know in the comments.
08:50 "Did you watch it with your parents?"
08:52 "Yes."
