00:00 Mississippi State pitcher Cal Stephen has the potential to emerge as an
00:04 important piece in the Bulldogs starting rotation this baseball season. Now he's
00:09 a transfer from Purdue and he made his debut for the Bulldogs on Saturday in
00:13 game two versus Air Force and put up a solid performance despite them falling
00:17 to the Falcons that day three and two. In that game Stephen pitched across seven
00:21 innings allowing just one run and three hits. Meanwhile he walked zero batters
00:26 and recorded 11 strikeouts for the night. While it's only just one game so far
00:31 this year for Stephen, him as a pitcher is someone to monitor as the Bulldogs
00:35 head into future games this season. Now as long as he continues to put up
00:39 performances like he did on Saturday he could be a very solid starting choice
00:43 for a Bulldogs team that struggled with pitching last season and has the
00:46 potential to be the go-to man once SEC play starts later this season. The
00:51 Bulldogs have a three-game series this upcoming weekend against Georgia
00:55 Southern and while the starting rotation for that series hasn't been announced as
00:59 of right now there's a possibility that we could see more of Stephen in action
01:03 during that series. It'll be interesting to see how Stephen and new pitching
01:08 coach Justin Parker do this season.
