A woman has an extremely rare condition that links her eyelids to her jaw which causes her eyes to droop - when she opens and closes her mouth.

Mandy Bardisbanian, 33, is one of only 300 people in the world with Marcus Gunn Jaw-winking Syndrome - which has caused her to be bulled and self harm.

The rare genetic disorder means nerves and muscles of the jaw are linked to the eyelid.

One of her eyelids will droop and open when she moves her mouth.

A video shows Mandy's eye opening and closing as she's eating food.

There are only 300 documented cases in the world, according to a 2008 report - the most up-to-date information provided by the National Organization for Rare Disorders.

00:00 I am about to show you something that almost 100% guaranteed you have never seen before.
00:04 I have something called Marcus Gunn jaw link syndrome. It's where a nerve from your eyelid
00:11 that's supposed to go to your ear went to my jaw instead. So whatever my jaw does, my eyelid does.
00:16 Watch this eye.
00:18 Or when I chew.
00:28 It is such a rare condition that most doctors will never see it in their entire careers,
00:32 and most of us will go through our entire lives without ever meeting anybody like us.
00:36 If you have Marcus Gunn jaw link syndrome, please know that you are absolutely beautiful and you are
00:41 not alone. For everybody else, if you see something a little weird on somebody, maybe think twice
00:47 before commenting on it. I also have something called ptosis. See how this eyelid hangs lower
00:53 than this one? Most of us have ptosis along with our Marcus Gunn, but not always. According to the
00:57 National Organization of Rare Diseases, there's only about 300 of us on record in the world,
01:02 which is a little hard to believe since so many of you have reached out to me. If you're not sure,
01:06 please go see an ophthalmologist and ask them questions. They'll be very excited to see you
01:10 because you're probably the only one they will ever see in their careers.
