00:00 "Aww, $20.
00:02 I wanted a peanut."
00:04 "$20 can buy many peanuts.
00:05 Explain how."
00:06 "Money can be exchanged for goods and services."
00:09 Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the funniest things done
00:14 by or to Springfield's most popular residents.
00:17 "Dad, you killed the zombie Flanders."
00:20 "He was a zombie?"
00:23 Number 20.
00:24 Action Hero Escape – Homer Batman Who knew attending a candy convention would
00:29 be so dramatic?
00:31 After not-so-subtly stealing the gummy Venus de Milo, Homer and Marge have to hastily make
00:36 a break for it.
00:37 "Now this is going to take all my skill.
00:40 Heh heh heh.
00:42 Gah!"
00:43 "Hunt!
00:44 Hunt!
00:45 Run, Marge!
00:46 Save the booty!"
00:47 "After him!
00:48 He hasn't got it!"
00:49 Now this must be one valuable gummy, as pretty much everyone stops what they're doing to
00:53 give chase.
00:54 Things take an unexpectedly hilarious turn when, just before exiting, Homer kicks a Buzz
00:59 Cola out of a vending machine and mixes it with Pop Rocks to create an impromptu explosive
01:04 device.
01:05 "See you in hell, candy boys!"
01:14 The sequence ends with Homer slow-mo diving out of the way of the explosion.
01:19 It's utterly over-the-top and ridiculous, but we love it.
01:23 Number 19.
01:24 Pulling himself out of a tar pit, Bart gets an elephant.
01:28 With no way of taking care of Bart's elephant, Stampy, Homer decides to sell him to an ivory
01:33 dealer.
01:34 "Dad, you can't do this.
01:35 Stampy is my friend."
01:37 "Don't worry, son.
01:38 I'll get you a new elephant."
01:39 "I'll take that one, too."
01:40 "Done!"
01:41 "Alright, I'll be back in the morning to pick up Stampy."
01:42 "Here's the keys."
01:43 "Elephants don't have keys."
01:45 "Well, just keep these then."
01:47 Obviously, not an ideal setup, Bart decides to run off with Stampy.
01:52 The rest of the family go out looking for the pair and everyone ends up at the Springfield
01:55 Tar Pits.
01:56 Homer accidentally ends up in the tar pit, and when the others scramble to pull him out,
02:01 he insists he can do it himself.
02:04 "No, that's okay.
02:05 I'm pretty sure I can struggle my way out.
02:07 First, I'll just reach in and pull my legs out.
02:11 Now, I'll pull my arms out with my face."
02:14 "Dad!"
02:15 His calm demeanor while trying to pull himself out of a dangerous situation, only to completely
02:23 fail, just heightens the comedy of the scene.
02:26 Thankfully, Stampy is there to rescue him.
02:29 Number 18.
02:30 Posing as Mr. Burns' mother, Homer the Smithers.
02:34 Waylon Smithers didn't think there'd be any harm by having Homer replace him as Mr.
02:39 Burns' assistant.
02:40 "What do I do in case of fire?"
02:43 "Oh, just my luck."
02:53 He turned out to be wrong, as during his time away, Mr. Burns learned to be self-reliant
02:57 thanks to Homer and was fired.
02:59 To get his job back, Smithers has Homer transfer a call from Mr. Burns' estranged mother
03:04 so he can jump in and save the day.
03:07 Homer accidentally disconnects the call and has to pose as the Burns' matriarch.
03:11 "Hello, Mr. Burns?
03:13 This is your mother."
03:14 "No."
03:15 "Grrr.
03:16 Oh, hello, Mater.
03:17 Um, sorry about pulling the plug on you and all."
03:23 His impersonation has us laughing every time as his voice sounds nowhere near someone who
03:28 is 122 years old.
03:31 But he also doesn't know Mr. Burns' first name.
03:34 "Son, this is Mrs. Burns.
03:36 I just called to say I don't love you.
03:40 You are a bad son, Mater."
03:44 "So, impersonate my mother, will you?"
03:49 Finding his exact double, fear of flying.
03:52 After Homer's prank is poorly received by his friends, he's banned from Moe's Tavern.
03:57 "How many people want Homer banned from this place for life?"
04:00 "Yeah!"
04:01 "Oh, come on, everybody.
04:03 This bar is like a tavern to me."
04:05 "Sorry, Homer.
04:06 You should have thought of that before you gave me the old sugar mead do."
04:09 He tries to find a new place to hang out and drink with no luck.
04:12 Soon, we see a character who suspiciously looks like Homer in disguise, trying to sneak
04:17 back into Moe's.
04:18 "Greetings, good man.
04:20 Might I trouble you for a drink?"
04:22 "Oh, get out of here, Homer."
04:25 "Homer?
04:26 Who is Homer?
04:27 My name is Guy Incognito."
04:30 Moe, Barney, and others don't buy the disguise and violently toss the man out.
04:34 What's brilliant about this bit is that it's not actually Homer, as he comes across
04:39 his double laying on the sidewalk.
04:41 He doesn't dwell on the fact too long, though, as he's distracted by a dog with a puffy
04:45 tail.
04:46 "Oh my God, this man is my exact double.
04:50 That dog has a puffy tail.
04:52 You're a puff.
04:55 You're a puff."
04:57 If we came across a copy of ourselves, we'd have more questions, but that's just us.
05:02 16.
05:03 Robbing the Quickie Marks – The Cartridge Family
05:07 Marge is concerned about her family's safety following a citywide riot.
05:11 To quell her fears, Homer buys a handgun.
05:13 She's less than impressed and is completely against having any weapons in the house.
05:17 "I'm sorry, Homer.
05:19 No weapons."
05:20 "A gun is not a weapon, Marge.
05:23 It's a tool.
05:25 Like a butcher knife or a harpoon or an alligator.
05:29 You just need more education on the subject."
05:32 Homer insists on keeping the weapon and proceeds to bring it everywhere with him.
05:36 He walks into the Quickie Mart with it and Apu believes it's a robbery.
05:40 Homer fantasizes what his life would be like if he robbed the Quickie Mart.
05:43 "Oh, Apu, I would never.
05:46 Or would I?
05:47 I've already gone this far.
05:49 I wonder what my life would be like if I robbed the Quickie Mart."
05:54 It apparently involves him becoming a senator and involves Marge go-go dancing while sitting
05:59 in a rocking chair.
06:00 Not only is the absurdity of his daydream funny, but when he decides to go through with
06:04 it, he's already driving away.
06:06 "I'll do it.
06:08 I'll rob the Quickie Mart.
06:09 Alright, put your…
06:11 Don't!
06:12 Oh, well.
06:13 I'll rob it next time."
06:15 Number 15.
06:16 Causing a lie detector to explode.
06:18 The Springfield Files.
06:20 Homer's paranormal sightings attract the attention of the FBI.
06:23 "There's been another unsubstantiated UFO sighting in the heartland of America.
06:27 We've got to get there right away."
06:28 "Well, gee, Mulder, there's also this report of a shipment of drugs and illegal
06:32 weapons coming into New Jersey tonight."
06:34 "I hardly think the FBI is concerned with matters like that."
06:38 Although it's nothing to be concerned about, as it's agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully
06:43 from the X-Files who arrive in Springfield to investigate further.
06:46 They present Homer with a lineup of candidate aliens, but none are what he saw.
06:51 Scully then attempts to administer a lie detector test to Homer, and after explaining the procedure,
06:56 she confirms if he understands.
06:58 He says yes, and the machine blows up.
07:00 "Now we're going to run a few tests.
07:02 This is a simple lie detector.
07:04 I'll ask you a few yes or no questions, and you just answer truthfully.
07:07 Do you understand?"
07:08 "Yes."
07:09 The way Homer confidently responded but blatantly didn't understand what Scully said makes
07:16 this such a memorable gag.
07:18 Number 14.
07:19 Meeting George Harrison.
07:21 Homer's barbershop quartet.
07:23 Meeting a big-name celebrity is bound to get anyone excited.
07:26 At a Grammy afterparty, Homer encounters former Beatle George Harrison.
07:30 "Then came the greatest thrill of my life."
07:33 "Hello Homer, I'm George Harrison."
07:36 Naturally, he's in shock, but in an excellent subversion of our expectations, Homer's
07:41 awe isn't with meeting Harrison, but rather he wants to know where Harrison got his brownie.
07:46 "Oh my God, oh my God!
07:48 Where did you get that brownie?"
07:49 "Over there, there's a big pile of them."
07:51 Once he points out there's a table full of them, Homer proceeds to gorge himself.
07:56 Harrison took the encounter in stride as he comments that Homer is a nice fella.
08:00 "Wow, what a nice fella."
08:01 Number 13.
08:03 Using a pelican to make cement.
08:06 Missionary impossible.
08:07 In order to get out of trouble for scamming PBS, Homer is sent to Micronesia to do missionary
08:13 work.
08:14 Of course, he's the least qualified person to take on such work.
08:17 He decides that the people of the community he's watching over need to have fun.
08:21 "Look, the point is I want to help, but you don't need a well or a chapel or an immunization
08:27 center.
08:28 What you need is a little razzle dazzle."
08:30 He has them begin a new construction project.
08:33 While overseeing the work, he notes that pelicans can be used as cement mixers, using the logic
08:38 that on the Flintstones, various animals were used to perform various work-related tasks.
08:43 "Now, if the Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.
08:48 Come on, little friend, make a wisecrack.
08:50 You know, it's a living, that sort of thing.
08:54 Oopsie."
08:55 Here, that doesn't play out as the pelican simply falls over and dies.
08:59 It's a bit dark, but extremely funny.
09:02 12.
09:03 Boogie Man in the House Springfield, or how I learned to stop worrying
09:07 and love legalized gambling.
09:10 Springfield legalizes gambling, and surprisingly, Marge becomes a regular at playing the slots.
09:15 Her absence from home means Homer's in charge, which is never a good idea.
09:19 Lisa awakens from a nightmare, and tells Homer she dreamed the boogie man was after her.
09:23 "I know it's absurd, but I dreamed the boogie man was after me, and he's like…"
09:28 "Ahh!
09:29 Boogie man!
09:30 You nail the window shut, I'll get the gun!"
09:31 Like any reasonable parent, he completely overreacts.
09:34 He wakes up Bart to inform him that a boogie man, or boogie men, may be in the house.
09:39 Marge returns home to a chaotic scene with everyone barricaded in the bedroom out of
09:43 fear.
09:44 Clearly, you can't let Homer's imagination run wild, but on the plus side, we get this
09:48 laugh out loud moment.
09:50 "What happened here?"
09:51 "Oh nothing, Marge, just a little incident involving the boogie man.
09:54 Of course, none of this would have happened if you had been here to keep me from acting
09:57 stupid."
09:58 11.
09:59 Using Reverse Psychology - Saturdays of Thunder Homer isn't always the most involved parent
10:05 with his kids, and after taking a short quiz about parenting, he realizes there's a lot
10:10 he doesn't know about Bart.
10:11 In an effort to strengthen his relationship with his son, he wants to assist Bart in building
10:16 a soapbox derby racer, but Bart insists he doesn't need help.
10:33 Homer reads in a book that using reverse psychology will get Bart to accept his help.
10:38 In a conversation held with his brain, Homer thinks it's too complicated.
10:42 Homer's brain tells him not to use reverse psychology, prompting Homer to use it.
10:54 The moment is a wonderfully humorous way to demonstrate the technique.
10:58 It not only works on Homer, but it also works on Bart.
11:02 10.
11:03 Indiana Jones Spoof - Bart's Friend Falls In Love
11:07 On a regular basis, The Simpsons will poke fun at popular movies with hysterical results.
11:13 This episode opens with one of the show's absolute best parodies.
11:17 Bart assumes the role of Indiana Jones, attempting to escape with Homer's jar of change.
11:25 It's Homer who steals the scene, however, as he chases Bart down the stairs only to
11:29 trip and fall, essentially becoming a human boulder.
11:33 Wearing nothing but his tighty-whities, Homer continues to pursue Bart and even ruins his
11:38 garage door in the process.
11:40 We also get to witness his fantastic ape impression as he watches Bart escape with his money.
11:48 9.
11:52 Dental Plan - Last Exit To Springfield To his credit, Homer almost always acts in
11:58 his family's best interests.
12:07 Sometimes it just takes him a while to leap into action.
12:10 Ecstatic about receiving a free keg of beer at work in exchange for surrendering the company
12:14 dental plan, Homer lines up only to hear Marge's voice in his head, reminding him that Lisa
12:20 needs braces.
12:27 As Homer ponders the connection between the dental plan and Lisa, the guys drop a pencil
12:33 in his butt crack.
12:34 Regaining his train of thought, Homer finally realizes that he needs the dental plan, setting
12:38 the stage for one of the best episodes in the entire series.
12:48 8.
12:52 Stealing Moe's Car - Dumbbell Indemnity If you're planning to commit insurance fraud,
12:57 it may not be the best decision to give Homer Simpson an important role in your scheme.
13:16 That is exactly the mistake Moe makes.
13:18 All Homer has to do is park Moe's car on the train tracks, but naturally he gets distracted
13:23 by a drive-in movie.
13:25 Missing the train, Homer improvises and attempts to drive the car off a cliff.
13:30 His effort to jump out of the car fails in hilarious fashion.
13:43 Homer somehow survives the crash, but immediately emerges from the water to several police guns
13:48 pointed at him.
13:49 The cat burglar outfit doesn't exactly help his case.
13:53 7.
13:54 Stupid Sexy Flanders - Little Big Mom One of the best recurring gags on the show
13:59 is Homer's hatred of his neighbor Ned Flanders.
14:03 And this is easily one of the funniest moments between the two.
14:06 Hitting the slopes, Homer runs into his arch-frenemy, who's wearing an outfit that leaves little
14:11 to the imagination.
14:28 This causes Homer to lose control on his skis.
14:31 He attempts to remember the advice his ski instructor gave him.
14:34 Unfortunately, he can only remember his encounter with Flanders and his sculpted bottom in that
14:39 tight ski jumpsuit.
14:49 6.
14:52 BBQ Pit Rage - Mom and Pop Art To say Homer never has been an expert at building
14:58 things is an understatement.
15:00 In this classic scene that displays Homer's anger and stupidity, he attempts to build
15:05 a BBQ pit.
15:15 Things get off to a rocky start when he immediately spills all of his supplies into wet cement.
15:20 And it only goes downhill from there.
15:32 The show tries to fool the viewer for a second as Homer stares at a beautiful constructed
15:37 pit.
15:46 Honestly though, did anyone really fall for that?
15:52 We immediately see that Homer's pit is a downright disaster, sending him into a hilarious
15:57 fit of rage.
15:59 5.
16:00 It's a Geo - Homer Loves Flanders We return to the Flanders-Homer rivalry for
16:06 this classic moment.
16:07 Unlike their usual encounters, however, this time Homer is actually desperate to hang out
16:12 with Flanders and it's Neddy trying to avoid his neighbor.
16:36 Flanders attempts to escape an offer for a quick nine at the Pigeon Putt despite the
16:40 limitations of his car.
16:42 In a hilarious spoof of Terminator 2, Homer chases the car down and latches on using his
16:47 golf clubs.
16:58 Flanders is eventually able to shake him off the car, but even this doesn't deter Homer,
17:03 who simply chalks it up to a misunderstanding.
17:08 4.
17:09 King Size Homer Saves the Day - King Size Homer
17:13 Only Homer Simpson would gain even more weight in order to claim disability and work from
17:17 home.
17:21 That's the main storyline in this episode.
17:36 Homer gets out of the plant's new exercise program by putting on almost 60 extra pounds.
17:41 Naturally, Homer neglects his responsibilities and his reliance on a drinking bird to cover
17:45 for him results in a near-nuclear meltdown.
17:49 Homer attempts to save the town and hilarity ensues as he hijacks an ice cream truck and
17:54 drives to the plant.
17:55 Ironically, Homer's weight increase actually saves the day as he falls into the tube and
18:00 blocks the gas with his body, earning him a medal.
18:10 3.
18:14 Space Chips - Deep Space Homer If our last entry proved anything, it's that
18:19 Homer loves his food.
18:21 In this episode, Homer somehow finds himself in space with Buzz Aldrin and RaceBanion.
18:30 Unable to simply enjoy the majestic view on its own, Homer reveals that he smuggled a
18:41 bag of potato chips on board.
18:43 Due to the lack of gravity, they immediately spread around the spacecraft, threatening
18:47 to clog the instruments.
18:49 Ever the hero, Homer releases his seatbelt and floats around, eating them one by one,
18:54 with the music echoing Stanley Kubrick's iconic film, 2001, A Space Odyssey.
19:09 Of course, this only creates more problems as Homer crashes into an ant colony.
19:15 2.
19:16 The Land of Chocolate - Bernds Verkaufen der Kraftwerk
19:20 After Mr. Bernds sells the power plant to German investors, they immediately evaluate
19:24 all of the employees, including Homer.
19:41 During the interview, the Germans remind Homer that they are from the land of chocolate,
19:46 immediately sending him into a dreamlike sequence where everything is made out of chocolate.
19:50 He prances around with chocolate bunnies, chows down on chocolate raindrops, and even
19:55 takes a bite out of a chocolate dog.
20:01 What makes this scene even funnier is how excited Homer gets when he sees a sign for
20:06 a store selling half-priced chocolate, despite the fact that he could just eat the whole
20:10 town for free.
20:12 Unfortunately for Homer, the sequence distracts him for 10 minutes, costing him his job.

20:36 1.
20:38 Jumping into Springfield Gorge – Bart the Daredevil This scene sums up Homer Simpson
20:43 to a T. A caring father who loves his son, even if he doesn't always show it.
20:48 After finding out Bart's plan to jump Springfield Gorge on a skateboard, Homer does everything
20:53 he can to stop him, eventually convincing his son not to make the jump.
21:05 Unfortunately, Homer's happiness is short-lived, as he realizes he's actually on Bart's
21:19 skateboard heading towards the gorge.
21:21 Despite his momentary belief that he may actually make it, Homer ultimately falls into the gorge.
21:27 Of course, things don't end there, as the gurney carrying Homer into the ambulance rolls
21:32 out and sends him back down the gorge a second time.
