00:00 >> I believe the NFL has always embraced the talent that most African American
00:05 quarterbacks were able to provide to the game.
00:09 I just I believe that now coordinators and head coaches are putting
00:14 these players in the best possible situations for them to succeed.
00:19 Instead of putting them inside of this umbrella that they have to play within.
00:23 But I think now, I think the game I know the game is definitely
00:28 navigating towards how can we put our players?
00:32 How can we put our most prominent player in the best situation that we possibly can
00:37 be in a lot of this stem from Andy Reed when he had this opportunity to work with
00:43 Michael Vick in the early 2000s where he was able to display why he was still
00:48 $100 million quarterback because Andy Reed provided a system for Vick.
00:53 And now you see once as long as he has been with the NFL,
00:57 because he has been with Patrick Mahomes, he's been catering things to such
01:02 all his prolific talents and you see Jalen Hurts and the success that he had
01:07 last year with Philadelphia and Lamar winning his second MVP.
01:12 It just shows that these guys are getting what their need to a certain point like
01:16 that we still have a long way to go.
01:18 But I think that's why this HBCU legacy bowl is so
01:22 important because the people that are paving the way.
01:26 They might not see the fruits of their labor at that moment, but
01:30 his generations on down are gonna be able to benefit off of the opportunities
01:36 that they're being provided right now.
01:39 And it's amazing to me being an African American quarterback to see really
01:44 the top quarterbacks are African American.
01:48 The best one is and the MVP is, so
01:52 that takes the cake right there.
01:56 It doesn't matter what anyone else is on the spectrum.
01:59 So that's exciting to see because this is a tough, this is a challenging game.
02:04 And the responsibility that encompasses that position are we're doing it in
02:10 ways that prior narratives did not believe that we could
02:16 execute the quarterback position in that manner.
02:19 And we're doing it on every spectrum now, so it's just encouraging to see.
