00:03 - That was all for her?
00:06 - Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down
00:10 our picks for the most iconic relationships
00:13 where superheroes are romantically linked
00:15 to more than one character,
00:16 whether in live action or comic books.
00:18 - It's someone else's.
00:20 - How are you?
00:21 - Just tell me it's not Wayne.
00:22 The guy's a complete--
00:23 - What are you doing?
00:27 - Number 20, Vision, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man.
00:31 As if dating between superheroes isn't hard enough,
00:34 try untangling a relationship between a sentient android,
00:37 a hex witch, and a former villain.
00:39 Yeah, you could say things got messy.
00:41 Scarlet Witch and Vision have always been each other's
00:44 de facto love interest,
00:46 and have several self-tied miniseries to prove it.
00:48 - We have said goodbye before, so it stands to reason--
00:53 - We'll say hello again.
00:56 - But that didn't stop Wonder Man from trying
00:58 to win Scarlet Witch's affection
01:00 when they all served together on the West Coast Avengers.
01:03 In a glimpse of his villainous side,
01:05 he even once tried to keep Vision offline
01:07 so he'd have Scarlet Witch all to himself.
01:10 She rebukes all of Wonder Man's advances,
01:12 but the three have remained
01:14 on very awkward footing ever since.
01:16 - You must come back to us, to me.
01:20 - Wanda, sorry, I did not mean to intrude.
01:24 - I was just checking on Wonder Man.
01:27 - Number 19, Black Canary, Batman, Green Arrow.
01:31 Throughout most of comic history,
01:32 the leather-clad Black Canary has only cried
01:35 for one partner, Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow.
01:38 - Hey, you're gonna get all serious on me.
01:41 - You bet.
01:44 - They're paired together as often
01:45 as Superman and Lois Lane,
01:46 Spider-Man and Mary Jane,
01:48 Ant-Man and the Wasps, I mean, you get the point.
01:50 So you can imagine the fan reaction
01:53 when Canary started locking lips with Batman, of all people.
01:56 Who knew the Caped Crusader was such a home wrecker, right?
02:00 Their romantic adventures are usually nothing more
02:02 than a quick fling, but something tells us
02:05 Oliver wouldn't like it either way.
02:06 Luckily, no matter the continuity,
02:08 Black Canary usually ends up
02:10 in her rifle spot next to Green Arrow.
02:12 - Yes, the answer is yes.
02:15 (dramatic music)
02:19 (click)
02:21 - Number 18, Human Torch, Medusa, Crystal.
02:27 The only thing hotter than Johnny Storm's powers
02:30 is this scandal.
02:31 At one point in time, both the Human Torch and Medusa
02:34 were separately spoken for.
02:36 Johnny to the Inhuman Crystal and Medusa to Black Bolt.
02:39 But when both of those relationships hit a rough patch,
02:42 the newly single heroes take solace with each other.
02:45 - Listen, why don't you let me help?
02:47 Trust me, after all, I did let you escape back at the warehouse.
02:51 - The issue?
02:52 Crystal, Johnny's ex, is actually Medusa's sister.
02:55 As a general rule of thumb,
02:57 it's best not to date your ex's sibling,
02:59 especially if they both have superpowers.
03:02 When Crystal discovers who Medusa is seeing,
03:04 it leads to an emotionally charged standoff
03:07 that nearly tears the sisters apart.
03:09 Next time, Johnny, cast that net a bit wider.
03:12 - Foolish child, you know it is forbidden
03:14 for Inhumans to mingle with outsiders.
03:16 - You got a problem, pally, you take it up with me.
03:18 - Number 17, Deadpool, Thanos, Death.
03:22 - What are you doing here?
03:23 Why are we dancing?
03:24 - Oh, you've bled out, my love.
03:27 And now we're together.
03:29 As always, our time is short.
03:31 - You heard that right.
03:33 Deadpool and Thanos quite literally fight over
03:35 who gets to be with the abstract entity, Death.
03:38 Only in comics, right?
03:39 To be fair, in most issues,
03:41 Death takes on the form of a very flirty woman.
03:44 It's enough to make both Deadpool and Thanos
03:46 fall head over heel.
03:47 But never the one to share,
03:49 Thanos gives the Merc with a Mouth a mortality,
03:52 so he could never meet Death again.
03:54 In fact, in some continuities,
03:56 Thanos wipes out half of the universe
03:58 as a grand show of affection for his beloved.
04:00 Deadpool is predictably more about the quips,
04:03 but either way, neither have earned more than a few kisses.
04:06 - You've done more than you know.
04:08 Don't speak, just kiss me.
04:11 - Number 16, Raven, Beast Boy, Terra.
04:15 As they say, opposites attract.
04:17 In the Teen Titans, that means Beast Boy and Raven.
04:20 Not that you'd be able to tell by looking at them.
04:23 Since Raven has to constantly keep a lid on her emotions,
04:26 she can't reciprocate Beast Boy's unsubtle advances.
04:29 However, that becomes a lot harder
04:31 when Terra enters the picture
04:33 and immediately woos the beastly hero.
04:35 - So what's an attractive,
04:37 decent-smelling girl doing with Beast Boy?
04:39 I guess I like how trusting he is.
04:41 I mean, he's really, really trusting.
04:44 - Jealous isn't usually a word
04:46 people use to describe Raven,
04:48 but that's the only way to explain her coldness
04:51 towards the Titans' newest member.
04:52 By the time Terra betrays the team,
04:54 this tragic love story has given two broken hearts
04:57 for the price of one.
04:58 - What did you do to her, Raven?
05:00 - Banished her to another dimension.
05:02 You're welcome.
05:03 - But she was just about to tell me how she felt.
05:05 - Number 15, Tony Stark Pepper Botts Maria Hill.
05:10 - Tell me you never think about that night.
05:12 - What night? - You know.
05:13 - The original love triangle in the "Iron Man" comics
05:16 actually involved Pepper, Tony,
05:18 and his personal assistant, Happy Hogan.
05:20 Pepper would eventually marry Happy,
05:22 although Tony would remain attracted to her over the years.
05:25 Tony has also had a working relationship with Maria Hill,
05:28 particularly during the "Civil War" miniseries,
05:30 and the two would eventually get together
05:32 during the "Dark Reign" storyline.
05:34 - What's up? - Hey, I admit it.
05:36 My fault. Sorry.
05:38 - While Pepper and Happy are never romantically linked
05:40 in the films, there was a bit of tension
05:42 between Pepper, Tony, and a new character,
05:45 Maya Henson in "Iron Man 3."
05:47 Number 14, Dick Grayson Barbara Gordon, "Starfire."
05:52 The one you have more in common with
05:54 or the one who's drop-dead gorgeous?
05:56 Also, one of them is orange.
05:57 This was the choice that Dick Grayson faced.
05:59 Dick falls for Barbara Gordon as Batgirl almost immediately,
06:03 but she brushes him off because of his age.
06:06 - I guess all the speed and danger
06:08 helped take me out of myself, made the pain go away.
06:11 You wouldn't understand.
06:14 - They would eventually become a couple
06:15 and remain so even after Barbara was paralyzed by the Joker.
06:19 Complicating the relationship, however,
06:21 was the emergence of the sizzling Starfire.
06:23 - Maybe a hero isn't all that I am.
06:27 Maybe I could be, maybe we could be--
06:29 - Robin. - Starfire?
06:33 - Stop talking.
06:35 - Dick and Starfire are even nearly married at one point
06:38 and in an alternate universe,
06:39 have a daughter together named Nightstar.
06:42 Number 13, Superman, Lois Lane, "Wonder Woman."
06:45 - Are you free later?
06:46 - If I can find my glasses.
06:50 - It feels like sacrilege to imagine Clark Kent
06:53 with anyone other than Lois Lane.
06:54 Superman, on the other hand, that's a different story.
06:58 Clark's dual life means that in certain story arcs,
07:00 he ends up spending a lot of his personal time
07:03 with Wonder Woman.
07:04 While his heart is always set on Lois in the end,
07:07 it's hard to compete with a godlike superhero.
07:10 Plus, with how often they save the world together,
07:12 it's only natural they started to develop intense feelings
07:16 and, you know, kiss a few times just for good measures.
07:19 Lois fans don't need to worry though.
07:21 At this point, there are enough Elseworlds stories
07:23 to make everyone happy.
07:25 - Tell Lois I'll see her Friday.
07:26 - Friday?
07:29 - What is it?
07:33 - World's colliding.
07:34 - Number 12, Batman, Tally Algo, "Catwoman."
07:38 - We've done this dance for so long.
07:40 Aren't you just the least bit curious?
07:45 - Despite his idealistic pursuit of justice,
07:48 the Dark Knight is frequently linked to two of the most,
07:51 let's say, morally gray characters in the Batman canon.
07:54 And by linked, we mean he's kissed Selena Cowell's Catwoman
07:57 in more comic books than we can count.
07:59 But Cheap isn't the only one Batman's seeing on the weekends.
08:02 The heiress of the League of Assassins, Tally Algo,
08:06 has also made her way under Bruce Wayne's mask
08:08 on more than a few occasions.
08:10 - What's to become of me then?
08:12 Am I to be your prisoner?
08:13 - He really has a type, huh?
08:19 Given both Catwoman and Tally's track record,
08:22 you can only imagine the fireworks whenever they butt heads.
08:25 For God's sake, fingers crossed
08:27 they keep things cordial next time.
08:29 Number 11, Rogue, Magneto, "Gambit."
08:32 Because of mutation that causes her
08:34 to absorb the abilities of anyone she touches,
08:37 Rogue spends most of her life in a self-induced exile.
08:40 But that doesn't stop her from becoming the center
08:42 of a juicy love triangle.
08:44 Despite his playboy tendencies, Gambit turns over a new leaf
08:47 and commits to sweeping Rogue off her feet.
08:50 And it works.
08:51 - Gambit loves you.
08:53 - No!
08:57 - For years, actually.
08:58 Sadly, their relationship isn't all sunshine and rainbows.
09:01 In some storylines, Rogue becomes enamored
09:04 with the antagonist, Magneto, whose mastery of metals
09:07 lets them share more intimate moments.
09:10 They even have a kid together at one point.
09:13 Notably, this love triangle isn't just plain attraction.
09:16 It's a full-blown debate on mutant politics, too.
09:19 - We always kiss the bridesmaids, too.
09:21 - This ain't Cajun country, hun.
09:23 Zip those lips.
09:24 - Number 10, Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson, "Black Cat."
09:29 With great power also come great love interest, apparently.
09:33 To prove it, Peter Parker has a certified web
09:36 of romantic options to choose from.
09:38 On one side, there's Mary Jane Watson,
09:40 the classic girl-next-door type.
09:42 On the other, there's Black Cat,
09:44 the very definition of a dicey antihero.
09:47 - I missed you.
09:48 Glad we're back together again.
09:51 - Not like that.
09:52 - They both have their fans, and for good reason.
09:55 In most iterations, Mary Jane is a better fit
09:57 for Peter Parker, but Black Cat is superior for Spider-Man.
10:01 Altogether, it's a captivating tug-of-war
10:03 that shows the struggle of balancing romance and heroics.
10:06 Both Mary Jane and Black Cat
10:08 marry Peter in different continuities,
10:10 so maybe you can just chalk this one up as a draw.
10:13 - We need to take 'em all out, like we used to.
10:16 Quiet as a cat.
10:21 - Sneaky as a spider.
10:22 - Number nine, Bruce Wayne, Rachel Dawes, Harvey Dent.
10:26 - Man, I loved...
10:28 a man who vanished.
10:29 He never came back at all.
10:32 - This love triangle was one of the central storylines
10:35 of Chris Nolan's "The Dark Knight" trilogy.
10:37 Bruce cared deeply for Rachel,
10:39 who told him that they could not be together
10:41 until he retired as Batman.
10:42 Complicating the issue was Rachel's relationship
10:44 with Harvey Dent, who would ask Rachel to marry him.
10:47 Torn between two men, Rachel eventually chooses Harvey.
10:50 - I need to be honest and clear.
10:55 I'm going to marry Harvey Dent.
10:57 I love him, and I wanna spend the rest of my life with him.
11:01 - This love triangle was exploited by the Joker, however,
11:04 who, spoiler alert, kidnapped both Harvey and Rachel,
11:08 resulting in Rachel's tragic death
11:10 and Harvey's transformation into Two-Face.
11:13 Number eight, Thor/Jane/Sif.
11:16 - Thank you. (laughs)
11:18 - Jane Foster.
11:19 - He's tall, blonde, handsome, and a god.
11:23 It's no wonder Thor was a popular target
11:25 for the ladies like Jane Foster, a nurse from Earth,
11:28 and the beautiful goddess Sif from Asgard.
11:30 Thor intended to marry Jane,
11:32 but Odin forbade it on the grounds that she was a human.
11:35 When given the chance to become an Asgardian goddess,
11:37 Jane failed the test,
11:39 which caused Thor to reunite with Sif.
11:41 - I thank you for your sword and for your counsel,
11:43 good lady Sif.
11:44 - There exists little animosity
11:46 between the two women, however,
11:48 with Sif actually saving a dying Jane on one occasion.
11:51 Number seven, Donatello/April O'Neil/Casey Jones.
11:56 - And then there's Casey Jones,
11:58 a nine-year-old trapped in a man's body.
12:00 He might almost be cute
12:01 if it wasn't for that pig-headedness.
12:03 - The main love storyline in the TMNT universe
12:06 is between vigilante Casey Jones
12:08 and news reporter April O'Neil.
12:09 While their relationship is on and off at times,
12:12 they are eventually married and have a child together.
12:14 - Babe, you look (stammering)
12:20 - Whoa!
12:21 Easy killer.
12:23 - In most versions, April works alongside the Turtles,
12:26 and while they are close,
12:27 they have a strictly platonic relationship.
12:30 In the 2012 animated series, however,
12:32 Donatello has a crush on April from the moment he sees her,
12:35 creating tension between him and Casey.
12:38 Unfortunately for Donatello,
12:39 April is oblivious to his feelings.
12:41 - Thanks, Donnie, for always being there,
12:45 even when I didn't want you to be.
12:47 (Donatello grunts)
12:50 - Number six, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Emma Frost.
12:54 - Scott.
12:55 I keep feeling something terrible's about to happen.
13:01 - Scott Summers and Jean Grey
13:02 have one of the more messy relationships in all of comics,
13:05 and the arrival of Emma Frost only complicated the issue.
13:08 Upon joining the X-Men,
13:10 Emma initially provided Scott with marriage counsel,
13:12 but their relationship quickly turned
13:14 into a psychic sexual affair.
13:16 Jean uses her telepathic abilities
13:18 to discover Emma and Scott in bed together,
13:20 in their minds,
13:21 and uses her Phoenix powers to shatter Emma's diamond form.
13:24 After Jean's death, however,
13:26 Emma and Scott begin a legitimate relationship.
13:29 - Jean.
13:29 - Oh.
13:35 - I'm sorry, I thought you were--
13:39 - I'm a telepath, Scott, I know.
13:41 - Number five, Doctor Manhattan, Silk Spectre 2, Night Owl.
13:46 - Dan.
13:49 - John sees a lot of things,
13:50 but he doesn't see me.
13:54 - What many consider to be
13:55 the greatest comic book of all time
13:57 also featured an enticing love triangle
13:59 between John Osterman, Laurie Jaspesik, and Dan Dryberg,
14:03 also known as Doctor Manhattan, Silk Spectre 2,
14:05 and Night Owl, respectively.
14:07 - You wanna ask me to go to dinner with you?
14:09 Like we used to.
14:13 - Attracted to the godlike Manhattan almost instantly,
14:16 Laurie continued on a relationship with him
14:18 after she retired.
14:19 - Hero, weapon, linchpin of our national security,
14:24 deterrent to nuclear war.
14:26 - As Manhattan became less and less connected
14:28 with humanity, however,
14:29 the relationship between the two deteriorated,
14:31 and Laurie eventually became romantically involved with Dan.
14:34 At the end of the comic, Laurie and Dan are still together.
14:38 - Well, that sounds like a date.
14:40 (laughing)
14:47 - Number four, Sue Storm, Reed Richards, Sub-Mariner.
14:52 - It's a beauty.
14:53 - Look out, sis!
14:56 - As headlining members of Marvel's so-called first family,
15:00 Sue Storm and Reed Richards are supposed to have
15:02 the perfect marriage, and for the most part, they do,
15:05 at least until Namor the Sub-Mariner
15:07 arrives and start making waves.
15:09 Originally introduced as a vengeful Atlantean
15:11 trying to flood Earth,
15:13 Namor soon forgives the surface world
15:15 thanks to his burgeoning relationship
15:16 with, you guessed it, Sue Storm.
15:19 Despite her reservations, the invisible woman
15:21 can't help but feel smitten towards the aquatic hero.
15:24 Their taboo romance sparked what is commonly referred to
15:27 as Marvel's very first love triangle.
15:30 Sue can turn invisible all she wants,
15:32 but there's no hiding from a legacy like that.
15:35 - He does have amazing powers.
15:37 - And incredible eyes.
15:39 I mean, for a man who lives under the sea.
15:41 - Number three, Cyclops, Jean Grey, Wolverine.
15:45 - This is Scott Summers, also called Cyclops.
15:48 - Just when you thought the Scott-Jean relationship
15:53 couldn't get any more confusing, enter Wolverine.
15:56 - Oh, wait a minute.
15:58 He's not coming with us, is he?
16:00 - Yes.
16:00 - Jean ended up cheating on Scott with Logan
16:02 on more than one occasion,
16:04 most notably in "X-Men Forever" annual number one.
16:07 She was a constant source of tension
16:08 between Logan and Scott,
16:10 which was one of the main storylines
16:11 of the original "X-Men" movie trilogy.
16:13 In that timeline, her alternate personality, the Phoenix,
16:16 caused her to kill Scott, and Logan had to kill Jean.
16:19 But thanks to the convenient time travel shenanigans
16:21 of "X-Men Days of Future Past," that was all rendered moot.
16:25 - Hey, Logan.
16:26 - Jean.
16:28 - Are you okay?
16:29 - You're here.
16:33 - Where else would I be?
16:35 - Number two, Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Lana Lang.
16:39 - Hi, Lana. - Hi, Clark.
16:40 - Oh, Lana, Lois, say hello to Lana Lang,
16:43 Smallville's newest gift to Metropolis.
16:45 - Everyone has that person they grew up with
16:47 who would go on to become their first crush.
16:49 For Clark Kent, that was Lana Lang.
16:51 Lana is one of the first people to learn Clark as Superman.
16:54 In most Superman titles,
16:55 Lana is Clark's teenage love interest
16:57 before he moves on to Lois in his adult years.
16:59 But some titles see her competing with Lois
17:02 for Clark's affection.
17:03 This is best shown in the TV series "Smallville,"
17:05 where Clark is seen dating both Lana and Lois
17:08 multiple times during different seasons.
17:11 - Lana?
17:12 - Yes?
17:13 - Just wanted to remember this moment.

17:30 - Number one, Peter Parker, Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane Watson.
17:37 This is one of the rare love triangles
17:39 that not only didn't involve an affair,
17:41 but actually showed all three members as close friends.
17:44 - Hello, I'm Gwen Stacy.
17:47 - This is Mary Jane Watson.
17:49 - Peter initially dated Mary Jane, which frustrated Gwen,
17:52 but broke up with her
17:53 because he thought she was shallow and superficial.
17:56 Peter would then date Gwen
17:57 until she was tragically murdered by the Green Goblin.
18:00 Her death caused Mary Jane to become more serious,
18:03 and after some hurdles, she ended up marrying Peter.
18:06 - How come you never mentioned her?
18:07 She's your lab partner?
18:11 You saved her life?
18:13 She thinks you're a genius
18:15 and she had her polished fingernails all over you?
