Coronel embraces role as team captain of Lady Spikers  Julia Coronel says she embraces her new role as team captain of defending champions, the De La Salle Lady Spikers, as the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament holds a press launch at the Mall of Asia Arena on Monday, Feb. 12, 2024. Coronel, who plays the setter position, said that as a leader she needs to be more vocal and tough on the court. 00:05 So far it's been great. I embraced my role as both team captain and starting center of the team.

00:12 And I think over these past months I've been able to adjust and I've been able to accept my role because I realized that I was put in this position because my team trusts me a lot.

00:25 How did Mars Rover prepare you for this season?

00:37 The past season has been a big help in encouraging me and giving me confidence.

00:44 And it also helped me prepare for this bigger role that I have right now.

00:52 I always remember the people who advised me, Ate Joss and Ate Mars.

00:57 Our previous seniors that I've been able to reach in the team.

01:00 And now, they left a legacy for me.

01:03 That's also something that I want to implement in my team now.

01:07 And I want to make my team's legacy better.

01:12 Personally for you, for your role, what do you need to improve to really rise in the team?

01:18 Generally, I need to be more vocal as a leader especially.

01:25 I need to be the last one to give because I'm the leader in the team.

01:30 I'm the one who's selling it.

01:32 So I need to be more vocal and stronger inside so that I can follow my teammates even if they give up or it's hard to do.
