00:03 The Porsche Taycan has been around for a few years now,
00:11 but Porsche would be a fool if it changed much
00:13 on its frankly gorgeous first pure EV.
00:16 Now that the Taycan's mid-cycle refresh is underway,
00:19 we're happy to see the sleek exterior design
00:21 stays largely the same.
00:23 But the big changes, they're happening under the metal.
00:26 Power has been raised across the board,
00:28 with the base Taycan now making 402 horsepower and 302 pound
00:33 feet of torque with launch control.
00:34 On the highest end, a Taycan Turbo S
00:36 with the Performance Battery Plus option
00:38 and push-to-pass launch control nets you up to 938 horsepower
00:43 and 818 pound feet of torque, increased
00:46 from the previous 750 horsepower and 774 torque.
00:50 Adaptive air suspension is now standard,
00:52 and the brakes have been updated to recapture
00:54 even more decelerative energy.
00:56 But Porsche still isn't giving us
00:59 one-pedal driving mode, which is something most other EVs offer.
01:02 The batteries are improved too.
01:04 The new base battery has the usable capacity
01:06 of the old big battery, and the new big battery
01:09 has even more yet.
01:11 A better thermal management system
01:12 meets a smoother and faster charging process.
01:15 And best of all, the batteries do all this
01:18 and weigh about 20 pounds less than before.
01:21 Porsche also reworked the Taycan's
01:23 onboard electrical system, optimizing and consolidating
01:26 everything.
01:27 There are minor aero tweaks to the wheels
01:29 and lower rolling resistance tires.
01:31 All those benefits stack, by the way.
01:33 So overall, they mean an estimated 30% improvement
01:36 in range.
01:37 Very cool stuff.
01:38 We got a brief ride in the new Turbo S prototype
01:40 and found the ride quality was impressively smooth,
01:43 thanks to the new but optional hydraulic active suspension
01:46 called Porsche Active Ride.
01:47 Launch control was mind-blowing, as always.
01:50 The car charged quickly, as promised.
01:53 Prices for the 2025 Taycan remain high,
01:56 and range from $101,395 to $213,695.
02:02 They're available for you to order now,
02:04 and you can expect deliveries to start over the summer.
