00:00 [footsteps]
00:02 - Good.
00:07 - When we talked back at the Soldier's Studio,
00:09 you had said you loved your growth
00:11 from the beginning of the season to now.
00:13 I mean, where do you see yourself now
00:14 and the confidence and how far you've kind of come
00:16 over this, you know, the past couple of years
00:18 and now being a starter here at this current moment?
00:21 - Yeah.
00:22 Like you said, just growth.
00:26 The last two years, you know, I haven't, you know,
00:28 wrestled a whole lot in the lineup.
00:30 And this year I've gotten the opportunity by, you know,
00:35 proving it at the Soldier Salute
00:36 that I'm the guy at this weight.
00:38 And like you said, the more I wrestle,
00:41 I think the better I'm going to get.
00:42 So the more I'm out on the mat and the more I'm, you know,
00:45 getting the experience and these matches under my belt,
00:49 the better I'm going to get.
00:50 And I'm not satisfied with where I'm at right now.
00:54 There's still a lot of improvement,
00:55 a lot of growth left to do.
00:56 And, you know, it's a short time coming here.
01:00 You know, we're getting-
01:01 - What's it been like for you too?
01:02 I mean, coach mentioned that Victor has been with you
01:05 and you guys are still kind of battling that out
01:06 and working towards it.
01:07 He has lofty goals, you have lofty goals,
01:09 but you guys are ultimately pushing each other further.
01:11 I mean, what's it been like just kind of working
01:13 with each other and kind of going through that process?
01:15 - Yeah. I mean, it's fun, but you know, it's hard.
01:20 You know, you got to come in every day,
01:23 like I've said before, and you got to be ready to go
01:26 because you don't know, you know,
01:27 what happens if you don't have a good practice.
01:30 You know, you're always like,
01:31 "Oh, if I don't have a good practice,
01:33 then, you know, maybe they're going to go with him."
01:35 So you got to come in and you got to be ready
01:37 to put your best foot forward every day at practice.
01:41 But then again, you can't let that get
01:42 in the back of your mind.
01:43 You just got to go in and you just got to wrestle
01:44 and you got to think about getting better
01:45 and you can't worry about what, you know,
01:48 someone else is doing.
01:49 - What do you think, or how has the team responded?
01:55 What's the atmosphere been like in the room this week
01:58 between Michigan and the upcoming Penn State duel?
02:01 - Yeah. I mean, it was kind of,
02:03 it's kind of like a wake-up call, kind of, I guess.
02:07 I mean, we knew Michigan was good.
02:09 We know Penn State's good,
02:11 but I mean, we just got to keep doing what we're doing.
02:16 We can't kind of let that get in our heads.
02:19 And I didn't get to wrestle.
02:20 I didn't get to kind of feel it.
02:22 I was there, but I didn't, you know,
02:23 I wasn't out on the mat,
02:24 but you know, it's almost like a sense of urgency.
02:28 Like, you know, we got big tens in a month
02:30 and nationals in six weeks.
02:33 We got to be ready to go every time we step out there.
02:35 So.
02:37 - What do you know about Tyler Kasach?
02:38 And I don't know, I mean,
02:39 he's relatively new to the college wrestling world.
02:41 I mean, what makes him tough to handle
02:43 and what have you kind of seen from him?
02:44 - Yeah. I mean, you see it more and more now.
02:46 These true freshmen are coming in
02:48 and they're ready to wrestle right away.
02:51 And, you know, these kids coming right out of high school,
02:54 they almost got a little bit more fire,
02:57 fire in their belly to get out there and prove themselves
03:00 than maybe some of these older guys
03:02 that have been here for a while.
03:03 And that's what makes them, you know, dangerous, you know?
03:07 So I know a little bit about him, some results and stuff,
03:12 but other than that, I mean,
03:13 he's going to come out there
03:15 and he's going to want to win this match.
03:17 Just like I want to win this match, so.
03:19 - Thanks, Caleb.
03:22 - Yeah.
