00:00 After almost a decade working at the Launceston General Hospital, nurse and midwife Amanda
00:07 Duncan has spoken out at a parliamentary inquiry into ambulance ramping.
00:12 I have received 11 reports from doctors and nurses who have disclosed alleged misconduct
00:19 relating to the death of a patient, including falsified medical certificates of death.
00:25 Nurse Duncan alleges the hospital's former medical services boss Peter Renshaw hid the
00:30 cause of some patients' deaths to avoid coronial investigations.
00:34 She says two deaths stick out.
00:37 One at the emergency department.
00:39 Multiple staff involved suspected the coroner would likely make a scathing finding against
00:44 the LGH regarding the person's death.
00:47 And one failed resuscitation she was involved in following a cardiac arrest.
00:52 In which other nurses and I believe was a case of doctors protecting doctors.
00:58 The allegations come two weeks after another registered nurse made similar claims.
01:03 There have been for a number of years tea room conversations around why did that case
01:12 not go to the coroner.
01:13 These matters are so serious.
01:16 Allegations that have been going on for such a long time and affecting patients and staff
01:21 at the LGH, they deserve to have a serious investigation.
01:26 It is a concern.
01:27 I will be asking my health department to follow up and investigate and report back to me as
01:34 soon as possible.
01:35 The ABC has attempted to contact Dr Renshaw for a response.
01:40 In a statement the health department says it's already started preliminary investigations
01:44 into Mr Millen's claims and will do the same with the new allegations when it receives
01:49 details about the cases.
