00:00 At the first sectoral meeting, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. ordered the strengthening and
00:05 improvement of the Philippine National Police cybersecurity systems by further training
00:11 PNP personnel and investing in technology to address cybercrime and cybersecurity.
00:18 President Marcos stressed the need to centralize and standardize all communication systems
00:22 and platforms across the PNP as well.
00:26 The order comes after PNP Chief Police General Benjamin Acorda, Jr. presented an improved
00:33 national crime situation and operational accomplishments of the PNP since the start of the Marcos
00:40 administration.
00:41 The peace and order indicator shows a 10% decrease in crime during the period of July
00:48 2022 to January 2024 compared to the period of December 2020 to June 2022.
00:58 Other areas that continue to be given serious attention are actions against illegal drugs,
01:05 loose firearms, e-sabong and illegal gambling websites, and communist terror groups.
01:11 To tell us more about the Marcos administration's policies and programs in dealing with these
01:16 crimes, we are joined by DILG's Secretary Ben Herabalos, Jr. and PNP Chief Benjamin
01:23 Acorda, Jr.
01:24 "Nandito po ngayon tayong tangalian para ipresenta ang napakagandang performance ng
01:30 Philippine National Police under Ben and Ben Tuloid, ke Benjamin Acorda, Jr.
01:39 So pareho rin kami na initials.
01:41 In any case, siguro mas maganda si chief ng PNP ang magsabi ito sa performance ko ng
01:48 Philippine National Police.
01:49 Chief Ben?"
01:50 "Yes sir.
01:51 Hello.
01:52 As presented earlier this morning before the President and we reported our accomplishments,
02:03 although seemingly nakita natin na nag-improve yung crime statistics, it went down by 10%,
02:10 but as we have said further, these crime statistics, there is a need for us to focus on cybercrime.
02:17 So kailangan nakita natin na medyo tumaas as reported during the last quarter.
02:23 And in line with that, as instructed by our President, we are intensifying, we are capacitating
02:30 our police officers on the ground, especially as of previously, I think cybercrime group
02:40 is only up to the regional level.
02:43 But this time we are training our personnel and our objective is that down to the police
02:49 station level, municipal level, we will have police officers who are trained to handle
02:57 cybercrime or unlawful crime."
