00:02 - Okay, so sports betting props,
00:05 very prevalence in sports betting has been legal.
00:07 We're seeing a lot of college props.
00:09 We saw a ton by the way,
00:10 for the college football national championship,
00:12 more Mike than I've ever seen.
00:14 Apparently in Ohio though,
00:15 there's a story that there is a chance at least,
00:19 that in that state,
00:20 you may not be able to bet college props.
00:22 What's the latest there?
00:23 - Yeah, so the NCAA asked Ohio
00:26 to stop offering college player props.
00:28 Some states don't offer them.
00:30 Massachusetts doesn't offer them, Craig.
00:32 There was a huge incident over,
00:34 prior to the weekend where BetMGM had taken
00:37 like 15,000 wagers I think,
00:40 on player props as part of parlays,
00:42 tolling I think $200,000 in stakes in Massachusetts.
00:45 So the regulator wasn't happy obviously,
00:47 because that's banned in Massachusetts.
00:49 They shouldn't have been taking those bets.
00:50 Took them for a while.
00:51 They're gonna face an adjudicatory hearing.
00:52 So that's all gonna come into play in Ohio.
00:54 Maybe it's not the same state,
00:55 but it's how other states are cracking down.
00:57 So you have the governor agreeing with the NCAA,
00:58 Charlie Baker, the president,
01:00 saying they shouldn't have this.
01:01 So now it goes back to the Gaming Commission,
01:03 who then put out a letter to the operators saying,
01:05 you know, you can offer public comment
01:07 on maybe why they should stand.
01:08 It's understandable given the threats these kids are facing,
01:11 why you wouldn't want this.
01:12 But at the same time, if the, you know,
01:14 the fandals and draftkings of the world aren't operating,
01:16 perhaps the illegal offshore books do.
01:18 And so then the athletes still get the same threat.
01:20 So it's kind of a tough situation.
01:22 I think for the books, it would be a PR win
01:23 if they decided, you know,
01:25 preemptively to say we're out of this.
01:26 But at the same time, I mean,
01:28 if they're not offering it,
01:29 somebody else nefarious could be doing so.
01:31 And these kids are gonna still face the same threats,
01:33 unfortunately, if they don't hit their, you know,
01:34 25 point prop or their 30 point prop or 10 rebound,
01:38 whatever it be in a certain game.
01:40 That's the disappointing part.
01:41 And there are, you know,
01:43 integrity monitoring solutions and numbers
01:45 athletes can contact, you know,
01:46 if they hear threats, obviously,
01:47 to make sure those threats are taken care of.
01:49 But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised
01:50 if this is the end of Ohio for college prop betting
01:53 on players anyway.
01:54 - Yeah.
