00:00 We are here with the one and only Samara Joy.
00:02 How are you feeling tonight?
00:04 This is a huge night.
00:05 I'm feeling oddly relaxed, honestly.
00:07 Honestly, because I'm presenting tonight.
00:08 I'm presenting the next Best New Artist.
00:10 I'm hoping, honestly, that I just read the name right.
00:12 So that's all.
00:14 Just calm down, read it slowly.
00:16 But I'm feeling relaxed.
00:17 I'm feeling really great seeing people I saw last year,
00:19 them remembering who I am.
00:21 So this is all good.
00:22 So talk to me about what it's like to be presenting
00:25 Best New Artist after having won last year.
00:27 Because I imagine it might feel like you're part of this class.
00:31 And you kind of get to usher in the next generation.
00:34 So what's that like for you?
00:36 It feels wonderful.
00:37 Because I know how much that moment meant to me.
00:39 And how surprised and excited and shocked
00:42 I was to actually hear my name.
00:43 Because it's nice to celebrate other people, obviously.
00:46 You always should.
00:47 And seeing other people win and seeing other people
00:49 experience it.
00:50 But to experience it for yourself
00:51 is an entirely different thing.
00:53 And so I'm happy to get the chance to surprise someone
00:56 with that honor tonight.
00:57 That's going to be amazing that you
00:58 get to be the vessel for that.
01:00 And that you feel that excitement.
01:02 My last question for you is, as a vocalist,
01:05 you are at the top of your game.
01:06 And you're so young.
01:08 I actually think we're the same age.
01:11 But I want to know what your process is like,
01:14 like in terms of keeping your instrument really
01:16 healthy and active and agile.
01:19 Well, I keep it active being on the road a lot.
01:22 I tour quite a bit.
01:24 But while I'm on the road, I've gotten the chance
01:26 to learn how to maintain my voice, thankfully.
01:30 Because I think in the classroom,
01:31 it's so much different being in class, being with your peers,
01:35 kind of being in a relaxed situation.
01:36 But being on the road and having to be like, OK,
01:39 this show has thousands of people.
01:40 And you have to show up and give yourself--
01:43 give them a show.
01:44 So I just do my exercises.
01:46 I get my rest.
01:47 I drink my water.
01:48 Mind my business.
01:49 And all that stuff.
01:51 Amen to that.
01:51 Amen.
01:52 Well, thank you so, so much.
01:53 We're going to have you do one last thing.
01:55 I don't know if you've seen the TikTok trend, but it's like,
01:57 we're sisters.
01:58 Of course we're going to do that.
02:00 Can you give us-- we're at the Grammys.
02:01 Of course.
02:02 And I'll step out for that.
02:06 OK.
02:06 OK, then you can yawn.
02:09 Ready?
02:09 Do you want me to go?
02:10 OK, I can go?
02:10 OK.
02:12 We're at the Grammys.
02:13 Of course I'm going to get out of these heels already.
02:16 I love it.
02:17 Thank you so much.
02:18 Good luck tonight.
02:19 Thank you.
