00:03 With the Ravens losing, that opened the door for Seattle, Joe, to go and
00:07 find who it is that they wanted.
00:09 And that was Ravens defensive coordinator Mike McDonald,
00:13 who is now going to be the head coach there.
00:15 So what a change, Joe, right?
00:17 Seattle goes from having the oldest head coach in the NFL, in Pete Carroll,
00:22 to now they will completely go to the other end of the spectrum and
00:26 have the youngest head coach in the NFL with McDonald.
00:30 Your thoughts, Joe?
00:30 >> It's not a bad hire because Seattle, from a defensive perspective,
00:35 does have concerns.
00:37 That is the weakness of this team.
00:38 But the concern for McDonald is, what can he get out of the offense?
00:42 I mean, if Pete Carroll and that team struggled for only nine wins last year,
00:46 can McDonald take them past that?
00:49 Because Pete Carroll's a great game planner, right?
00:51 And he related to the younger players, even though he was an older guy,
00:55 can McDonald do that?
00:56 Or is this gonna look like a situation where Arizona, with Gannon,
01:00 they played hard, they covered games, but they just didn't win a lot.
01:04 So that is gonna be a concern, I think.
01:06 I think when you go up against San Francisco, and even now,
01:09 a resurgence with the LA Rams and Sean McVay,
01:13 maybe the third best team in the conference, record wise, certainly.
01:17 But what do you get with a first year coach?
01:19 >> Right, and of course, you've got some changes in philosophy.
01:23 As you just said, I think that when you're especially a young first time coach,
01:28 and he will be the youngest coach, as I just said, I think that that calls for,
01:32 Joe, maybe a veteran or an offensive coordinator who's been around a while,
01:38 some stability, somebody who's seen it in the league.
01:42 Now, it's a young man's game now, right?
01:45 Look at how many younger head coaches we're going with around the league.
01:49 But you would like to think that maybe that's the way they're going to look,
01:53 potentially, in terms of maybe finding an offensive side of the ball.
01:57 Cuz this guy, listen, his defense is great in Baltimore this year.
01:59 But you're right, you need to have somebody with you
02:01 from the offensive perspective that's going to be able to get it done.
02:05 >> Yeah, look at all the talent that they have there.
02:08 Zach Schorman, Kenneth Walker, DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett.
02:12 I mean, the talent is there.
02:14 This isn't Arizona with Gannon, where it's a complete rebuild.
02:17 This is like, okay, you're nine and eight.
02:20 He's gotta get them now to find a way to get them to 12 and five.
02:25 Because you know the Rams are back now with Kyron Williams, Stafford,
02:28 being healthy.
02:29 Look at that talent.
02:30 They're clearly the second best team heading into next season.
02:34 So Seattle has to compete with that.
02:37 They lost both games to them this year.
