As the ban on XL Bully dogs comes into force, we ask Leeds locals if they agree with it.
Transcript
00:00 So the XL bully bag, do you agree with it and why or why not?
00:03 I don't, it's unfair on the dogs.
00:06 It's the guy, especially at the other end of the lane is the problem.
00:09 Because they keep banning the dogs, but where's it going to end?
00:12 So do you think the owners are at fault for those kind of dangerous things you see?
00:15 Yeah, yeah. Just get them insured or registered.
00:18 Get them to pay for it.
00:21 Take responsibility as an owner.
00:23 So the ban on XL bullies is coming to force, do you agree with it?
00:26 Yes I do.
00:27 And why is that?
00:29 Well I'm a dog owner myself and everyone knows what the breed is.
00:35 I just think you don't need to have dangerous dogs.
00:39 And you think those dangerous incidents happen because of the breed rather than the owners?
00:44 Well it can be the owner or the breed but if you ban the breed then you stop the owners, don't you?
00:51 Doesn't matter which way around it is really.
00:54 I'm sorry about it. Because I think it's down to how the owners are and why do they want them.
01:02 There was a lovely lady on telly this morning and her dog were soft as putty.
01:08 So I think you know, it's some people get them and they want to be violent with them and can't control them.
01:15 They are a strong dog and I feel sorry that it's come to this.
01:20 So the violent incidents we see, you think that's down to the owners rather than the breed itself?
01:25 I think it's a bit of both.
01:27 And I think if you want that kind of dog or you're interested in it for any reason,
01:34 you should be a responsible owner and some kind of training behind it.
01:39 Because you see them sold out at back of vans and all kinds of places, don't you?
