00:07 >> No worries.
00:10 >> What can you kind of gain from this experience?
00:14 >> I think there's a couple points here.
00:16 I think one is me and
00:17 opportunity to go and meet some other coaches who I believe that.
00:22 Some personnel people who I believe.
00:23 So from a selfish standpoint, it's an advantage for
00:26 me to try to be able to go and make some new connections.
00:28 And that's a real deal and then it also gives me insight to be in the meetings
00:32 with these guys and get to hang around with them and help us in the draft.
00:35 Some of the things that come out of it.
00:38 I'm running a drill and I just see somebody down, somebody else just hops in
00:40 there and takes a breath.
00:41 But those things matter to me in judgment about how guys love football and
00:45 wanna hop in there and do it.
00:46 So I think that gives us an insight that can help our organization going forward
00:49 towards the draft.
00:49 >> From a special teams perspective, obviously, like so much of that,
00:52 I think the willingness, the wanting to do it.
00:55 Is that kind of, when you're at the senior role,
00:56 you see a lot of these prospects who might not be getting the pub of
01:00 the top end prospect.
01:01 >> Yeah, for sure.
01:02 And I think there's a lot of guys that have never done it.
01:05 Like we're in a pro style punt like we're doing here.
01:08 I don't think we had anyone who's ever had the kick step for
01:12 punt protection before.
01:12 So it's new to them.
01:14 So it gives them a head start of what they're gonna have to do in the future.
01:17 And like you said, it definitely is the willingness,
01:19 special teams desire and want to.
01:21 And it's an understanding.
01:22 It gives you a feel for the prospect of, does this guy understand and
01:25 know his role of how he's gonna be able to make a team.
01:28 Go play for a lot of years, whether it's special teams or defense,
01:31 but gives me an insight to it.
01:32 >> [INAUDIBLE] >> You know what,
01:37 I thought he had an above average here.
01:39 I think we're really excited about his future.
01:44 I think if you could take two kicks back, the short ones that he missed,
01:47 then we'd be having a different conversation and
01:48 saying, he had a really, really good year.
01:50 But you can't, and he missed them, but he learned from them.
01:53 But I'm excited about his future.
01:54 I think he didn't let any of that affect him.
01:57 And I also think year two will be a big jump for
01:59 him because now he knows what to do, how to handle his body.
02:02 It's a long season for those guys.
02:03 And they come out of their senior year of college.
02:06 They can write the training for the combine in the pro days.
02:09 Then they'll write the rookie camp.
02:10 And this will be the first time in probably two years that he's actually had
02:13 some downtime and let his body be on.
02:15 And, but we're excited about it.
02:16 >> Is that kind of, when you go into a season with rookie specialists,
02:20 you have to kind of be patient when you get to those struggles?
02:23 Obviously, they've missed short kicks, but
02:24 then we had a stretch of a couple games where he missed some long kicks too.
02:27 Is that just kind of something you have to be, kind of steel yourself for?
02:31 >> Yeah, I think so.
02:32 And I mean, look, everybody's gonna have misses, right?
02:35 It's just magnified because it's the kicker.
02:37 The quarterback throws a bad pass, he's gonna have some of those too.
02:41 It's just not as magnified because when you play special teams,
02:43 you go out there, you get one play, and then you come off the field.
02:45 So we understand that.
02:46 But I think that he'll grow from it.
02:49 I really do.
02:50 And I think he's bounced back.
02:51 And the one thing I like about him is his demeanor.
02:53 He doesn't let one play go into the next play.
02:55 I think he's really well liked by his teammates and in the locker room.
02:58 And those guys had full confidence in him.
03:00 And so he'll be better next year.
03:02 >> Thank you.
