RAISED in a conservative Christian home, Jordan Bovee', from Minnesota, looks nothing like the stereotypical 'church girl'. Sporting her shiny latex bodysuit and fishnets, the 27-year-old describes her style as 'very eclectic industrial goth'. Growing up as an alternative kid dressed in all black, Jordan always felt like 'the black sheep of the family' - especially when she was compared to her sister, Angela, who was once crowned as Little Miss Minnesota. Throughout her entire life, people have been trying to convince Jordan to try a different style but she has never done so - until now. Today, Jordan is going to step into her sister's shoes for a day as she undergoes an extreme beauty queen makeover. She will also be seeing Angela for the first time in over a year - will Angela recognise her sister in a dazzling evening gown with a tiara?

00:00 (upbeat music)
00:01 I came from a very conservative Christian household.
00:06 And then there was me, the little black sheep of the family,
00:09 always throwing up devil horns.
00:11 My style is heavily inspired by the Cenobites
00:14 from Hellraiser.
00:15 I am transforming from industrial goth to beauty queen.
00:20 Hey Jordan, are you ready?
00:25 - I'm ready.
00:26 - Oh my God.
00:28 (laughing)
00:30 Oh my God.
00:31 Okay.
00:33 What is that?
00:34 How do you do that?
00:34 (laughing)
00:37 I would describe my style as very eclectic industrial goth.
00:45 I've tried different sub-genres,
00:48 like emo, scene, metalhead,
00:50 and settled in cozy in the goth subculture.
00:54 It's where I found home.
00:56 One of my favorite pieces,
00:59 this is a cool shirong.
01:00 That's really cool.
01:01 A lot of my collars are handmade by actual friends of mine
01:05 and incredible artists and stylists all over the world.
01:10 A lot of it was black light reactive.
01:12 (laughing)
01:15 It takes me anywhere from 30 minutes
01:18 to two and a half hours to get ready,
01:20 depending on how complex my look is.
01:22 I came from a very conservative Christian household.
01:27 My mother was blonde and tan.
01:28 My sister was also very blonde, tan, popular,
01:32 and was actually crowned as a preteen as Miss Minnesota
01:37 for being beautiful and perfect.
01:40 And then there was me,
01:42 the little black sheep of the family,
01:44 always throwing up devil horns in our family photos.
01:48 And when people see us in person,
01:51 they would kind of scratch their head,
01:53 like, wait, you two are siblings?
01:56 I am transforming from industrial goth to beauty queen.
02:01 We are now opening the packages.
02:05 Pink, I see pink.
02:08 Oh, this is a wig.
02:09 It's not pink, not pink.
02:11 Oh, hi, hello, you're photo bombing, baby.
02:13 Oh, it's a strawberry blonde, like my sister's hair.
02:16 I'll kind of get to take a step into my sister's shoes
02:19 for just a few hours and see what it's like.
02:23 And maybe it'll help us understand each other even more.
02:26 Hi, are you Jordan?
02:33 Hi, I'm Meg, nice to meet you.
02:35 Today we'll be taking off the look that she has on.
02:40 Oh, the eyebrows.
02:41 And then replacing it with warmer tones.
02:49 It's gonna be a little bit more glittery.
02:52 We'll do her makeup first,
02:54 and we're gonna start the tattoo cover up.
02:57 Then we'll move on to the hair.
02:59 And then we'll do her dress and then the surprise reveal.
03:04 Hey, Jordan, are you ready?
03:09 Yep.
03:10 I'm ready.
03:12 Oh my God.
03:13 (laughing)
03:15 Oh my God.
03:17 Okay.
03:18 Who is that?
03:19 What is that?
03:20 How'd you do that?
03:44 Last time I saw Jordan was a little over a year ago,
03:47 so I'm very excited to see her.
03:50 I'm kind of scared.
03:51 Oh my gosh.
03:59 Gosh, Jordan.
04:02 It's weird, huh?
04:03 Oh, Jordan.
04:04 Isn't it weird?
04:05 Oh my gosh.
04:06 Get out.
04:08 (laughing)
04:10 You look so weird.
04:11 I know.
04:12 It doesn't feel right 'cause it doesn't have the color
04:16 and the creativity.
04:19 I like her normal style.
04:21 I like that she feels most confident that way.
04:24 She still looks beautiful, but it's not her.
04:27 It was pulled off beautifully.
04:30 She still looks amazing,
04:32 but it's not her style and who she is.
04:37 What I really discovered from this project
04:39 was how much this really is not me.
04:42 'Cause sometimes you wonder, you know,
04:43 what if I do look normal?
04:44 This was a lot of fun,
04:45 but I'm very excited to get back to normal Jordan.
04:48 This will absolutely be my style
04:51 and approach to life forever.
04:52 I have no desire to return to the norm.
04:56 If I were to dress normal, it would just be a mask
04:58 and it wouldn't be real.
05:00 She's a singer.
05:05 (whooshing)
05:08 (whooshing)
